Palm Messaging - Threaded SMS Application
Requirements: Windows Mobile 2003 /SE/WM5 Phone Edition PocketPc.
Overview: If you're anything like us, you've been waiting for a threaded SMS / MMS app to relieve our mobile Outlook view on messaging with Windows Mobile. Well, some dear sweet blessed soul has answered the call. Hacked directly out of a Treo 750v, which featured Palm's WinMo take on their long-lauded threaded SMS feature, now you too can have IM-like text convos with your pals with a minimum of hacking. Merely install the app, make two quick registry edits and restart your phone. (If you're down with MMS you may have to reconfigure your MMS servers.) It worked like a charm when we tested to see if it was the real deal, though we understand it doesn't work with VGA displays (i.e. the Universal.) We're definitely not vouching for the legality of this one, however.

Download Instructions:

EDIT: INSTALL AT YOUR OWN RISK. This app is made specifically for the Palm 750v and is NOT officially released for other devices.

It has worked fine for me but for others it has slowed their machines and even disabled bluetooth. Please backup your device before attempting to install..

They were taking down because palm "nicely" asked them to be taking down.

Anyone tried this application on a HTC TyTN ?
What are the improvements compared to the built-in app ?

I tried FlexMail SMS feature and I highly recommend people to avoid using Flexmail for SMS (but it is an excellent application for emails !).

I tried FlexMail and it broke my push functionality with my Exchange server.. (using AKU3.3). I had to uninstall it..

I like this because it displays the SMS in a thread view.. With the built in app I had to go back and forth to see what I wrote and to see what the person responded with..

This WILL slow down your Treo a bit, and some treo users have limked this and Palm's SMS patch to their bluetooth being disabled.

This is a BETA and should be released saying so, so users dont accidently FUBAR their PPC..

I've added a small message warning people.

I've had no problems with this on my 6700

and to answer sathe, this app works only for SMS and MMS (if you can get it to work... I somehow did but flashed a new ROM.. AKU3.3 and now i cant get the MMS feature to work)

Outlook is still used for Activesync/push emails and other POP and MAPI emails

This was yanked off the treo 750. it has nothing to do with mms, mms is in the sme section as outlok after the hack. cant say on this working on other devices, it was made by palm forpalm, i havent tested it on y 6700 yet.
