If you use hermes, you need the version with brightness fix.

Some other devices like Artemis or touch dont need the brightness.

If you want installation into windows version or for rom cooking get the original one.

I just download this soft and instal on my FS C550 with upgraded WM6 (v5.2.1908) and i can see "htc Home" in Todays setings tab - but not on today screen,
any help ? C550 has VGA screen

This happened to me also with any 2.0 release, it depend on some certificates and files in rom, thats why it does not work on any device with any rom

Instructions:
1. Remove all previously installed HTC Home
2. Install HTC_Home_Extra.NewForce.cab
3. Once installed, before doing anything else, go to Settings, Today, Items. Un-tick HTC Home.
4. Soft-reset
5. Install HTC_Home_Customizer.0.8b.NewForce.cab
6. Once installed, run HTC Home Customizer
7. Go to HTC Options, Change HTC Language and set it to your Windows Mobile's language.
8. You can then customize it if you wish.
9. Exit the Customizer when you are done and there you go.

Same issue for me on my Wiz. I have tried the various methods stated in the above thread entries with very similar results. I have gone back to the 3 tab plugin. Hopefully someone will post a fix here soon.

Try installing these 2 cab files too after you have installed the customizer and see if that helps. Found them in a thread in xda-developer.

BTW, are you using an English device?
if not, go into the \Windows folder and look for "HTC_HDlg.exe.0409.mui", "HTCHome.dll.0409.mui" and "HH_0409_WeatherCities.xml".
change 0409 to the code of the language of your device.

Someone over at xda-dev mentioned that you need to remove SSDte overrite to get v 2.0 to work.
