Thanks but I do not understand the purpose of this app.

Most camera equipped mobiles phones can record video so why the need for a separate program ?

It is for recording the activity in front of your vehicle while driving so that if you get pulled over for supposedly running a light or something you can stop the current recording, save it and review to see if the light was in fact red etc.. the video file could then be used in court to prove you did not run a light. Can also e used if you rear end someone because they cut you off to prove you had no way to avoid hitting them etc.. It's not like having your camera set to video and just recording because with this you can specify a max record time and when it reaches that it will begin overwriting the file. Plus this will continue recording if moved to the background for other tasks..

The record in the background feature makes this a nice covert camera as well as it does not have to be running on the display to be recording. Great for recording things in a crowded environment and looking like you are doing other things.

heykrop

thanks, that makes sense

Just now tried it on the Omnia - record playback very smooth.

Recording saved to device and can only be played back with the program.

There does not appear to be any limit to the number or lenght of a saved recording. Can be changed in settings.
But if saving for viewing outside the app. the unregistered version converts only 5secs to avi format.

Does not remember save location.

Screen auto rotates to landscape on startup but on close does not revert to the original screen dimensions.

Hi guys,
app is useful, because of several differences to the regular video recording softs:
- it can work in background, with almost no decrease in quality of recording
- it records in 2 min. pieces, so even when the battery runs down, you have a viewable recording, at most without the last couple of minutes
- it exports as MJPEG avi, which can be viewed on PC. Compression is frame-by-frame, not on the whole stream
- it is timestamped
- future releases will have GPS speed integrated
- it can record in dedicated size, and when the size is reached, it loops and starts over again overwriting the first segment - i.e. it has an indefinite recording loop, whose size you can predetermine (in the registered version).

It is acrually a quite different videorecorder, specifically tailored for use as traffic video monitoring, allowed by russian legislation ;-)
Enjoy!

The author's site states, that the soft currently works in VGA mode (640x480) recording only on the Samsung i900 WiTu.

Yes, v1.3 works, but this link (.rar) is v1.2.

Of the 3 links, only one is 1.2 (since this is the first post of this software and I wanted to give people choice in case one version didn't work). If you have no access to rapidshare it is a different matter. Request and You will get a mirror ;-)

Something to remove the size limits for recording and conversion would make this quite a nice app.
