Please clarify which countries it works in and where it pulls the live caller data from.

Customer: “Two for ‘Ice Age’, please.”
Me: “No problem. Did you want the 3-D showing at 2:15, or the regular, 2-D showing at 2:50?”
Customer: “What’s the difference?”
Me: “…thirty-five minutes, and a dimension.”

it does not say how it pulls the data as the phone line is busy with an incoming call where does it retrieve the data from?

I would have to say that it pulls data from their own servers, due to the fact that there is a feature to remove digits added by company proxies/switches. See here showing the routing through their own server.
Code: Select allhttp://www.truecaller.com/images/remove_number.jpg

After installing I have discovered that it does not work with my phone/carrier. I am running a Touch Pro, using a 6.5.x ROM on Cricket's network. I'm not sure if the problem is with the ROM or the fact that Cricket isn't 3G; could be both. :?

Sorry you have me scratching my head here.Unless they us voip through their server and thus change your incoming number then I cant see how the system works as it cant make an outgoing transmition requesting details due to the incoming call. That is unless the details are part of the viop call [mystified] :?

Hi Arachnoid, i think i have to agree with immixxing that it pull data from their own hosting server. Have a read in their blog here: http://www.truecaller.com/blog/?p=124
They said they had experienced outage of service once due to some issues with their server.

Anyhow, i had contacted the developer and hopefully they can reply me with a satisfying answer. ok? :D

cheers~

Hi Arachnoid,

i got a fast reply from the developer.
Hello!
You can be confident in knowing we save no information from your personal
data.
No contacts or anything like that is transferred or saved by us. The data we
use is the same for all our devices:
A unique id for the phone
Information about your phone model and its screen resolution

Security wise, it should be ok but there's no exact info on how the data is taken.
By the way, my 2 cent opinion, if we know how the data is taken it won't be unique anymore right? It's understandable why the developer didn't tell us about that.
