Tested with WM6 Crossbow and works very well!

Was able to get my ActiveSync working again, I guess some registry settings did brick it.

Thx!

If anybody can find a good manual, some options are not crystal clear...

Can anybody explain what is the difference between SPB Clone & SPB Backup if it is only used for "one" PDA. Does SPB Clone the ROM?, Registry?...etc??

when i make a backup with sprite backup then i got a lot of errors because i changed a lot of system files
but when i do it with spbclone everything works perfect...
this is because i think also all rom files are cloned aswell

SPB Backup just backups up certain important files.
SPB Clone makes a copy of the whole device (and I think ROM) which can be deployed to other devices so they are exactly the same.

Even though I made 2 backups 1 with spb clone and 1 with spb backup and the 2 files were identical in size....where's the difference with the other files?

maybe they are the same, but spb clone is specifically for creating an image to deploy to many devices quickly and easily whereas spb backup is more a personal program for the one device

Let me clear up the air here....

1. SBP Clone was launched first.

2. SBP backup came after and is based on the same source code PLUS a few features (Better program).

3. There is a misconception (I had it as well) that SBP clone backups the ROM. That is WRONG!

4. SPB clone is geared towards the businesses so that they can configure one PDA and push the exact same image out to the rest.

5. SPB backup can do Incremental backups.

5. SPB Clone is NOT a backup program.

6. When you recover a device with an image created by SBP backup it will bring back ALL the settings and software installed INCLUDING SPB Backup itself.

7. When you recover a device with an image created by SBP Clone, the PDA will have NO trace that SPB clone was ever installed on the device. Thus if a user wants to do do regular backups he will have to install SPB Backup or other backup applications.

8. SBP Calone is $300.00

9. SPB backup is $20.00.

So finally who wins this war?

For me (Avg user) SBP backup wins by a long shot.

3 essential differences:

1. Launched from inside WM Spb Clone, after reboot, starts before initialisation of OS and any other apps (started via auto-start). Spb Backup instead, waits for full OS initialisation and then tries to stop already started apps (started via auto-start), there is risk for hanging and fail of backup.

2. Spb Clone makes the image file (backup image) by reading memory occupied addresses ( same style as imaging apps for PC like Acronis TrueImage Workstation) , being much faster than Spb Backup, which makes the backup reading file by file!

3. Due to this way of imaging, after a restore with Spb Backup, the old registry content remains unaltered, even containing previous deleted apps. While after a restore with Spb Clone, you get the original registry state before backup, without any old garbage from old uninstalled apps.
