Mine does not change but the bottom CPU load meter does change, I am kind of wondering if this auto speed scaling actually works or not... I did check auto start, save on exit etc and soft reset.

Your supposition is right. in "Auto scale" mode, theCPU speed is selected depending on the work load.
With this performance enbled, the CPU must change its speed accordingly to the settings done.
But not always it works properly. For intance, on my Universal it does not work as declared.
I never suggest to use "Auto Mode". I prefer to set manually the required speed depending on the use of my ppc.

Cencio,

For whatever reason this morning the software suddenly worked and now it will change the CPU speed based on the load specified in the advanced menu. Although I still did not fully understand what tricked it working, I did some of the following might be useful to someone:

1. I tried set manual setting for all speed setting that I used in the advanced menu, in my case 208, 312 and 416 MHz and enabled them to run for a while...

2. Checked minimize on start and auto start on softreset. Unchecked everything under option, including apply screen flicker filter. Enable speed meter on taskbar.

3. It seems that when the unit was soft reset and the PPC was starting up, the software could not keep up and it always stays at whatever the value the manual setting was. If you power down to standby mode and wait awhile, in my case the software suddenly started working...

When you overclocked the CPU speed, does it harm your ppc or somehow it may crash your pocket pc? I worrying that it may for example overheat my ppc and also how come it will minimize the battery consumption? How should I config it? Thanks!

This crashed the crap out of my rw6828.
Conditions.

1) I had a pin on the phone
2) I had it autoload on startup ( Never again)

Phone would not soft boot. I had to disable my phone and then try the soft boot about 5 x
until it went through ( I have no idea why fluked it ) and I uninstalled it.

I tested with a mate with Tomtom 6 exactly the same pda and it runs SLOWER !!!
( mapped a route 3000Km's his without XCPU killed mine and it was oclocked ~ 512 vs 416 )
