Release Testers Review: Mar'Cel

Download Instructions:

Download the .cab or the zip files.

To make it run on original ROMs (and maybe some cooked) install sdkcerts.cab first!

CAB-installation should be no problem.
To install using the zip files just copy the phcanOverbmp.dll to your windows directory
and import FInix VGA Battery and Network Icons.reg with any regeditor to your registry.

sdkcerts.cab
Only Battery Icon with percentage (cab)
Icons and Battery (zip)

Release Tester's Review

Tested/Working on: WM6.1
Not tested on: PPC 2002, 2003+SE, WM5, WM6
Rating: Originality: 9/10 - Quality: 10/10 - Performance vs similar products: 10/10 -- Average: 10/10
Comment: Enabling the new Icons to your Diamond and replacing the old you will have a completely new look and a much more detailed information on your Battery load. I never was pleased with the four-partition battery because it didn't really show you your real battery load; but didn't want to use a battery indicator bar because it wouldn't fit to the "look" of my Diamond. Replacing the old battery with the new one (new Battery Icon, percentage values, new charging-icon) my Diamond got a bit more perfect for me!
Required storage memory: 1 MB
Installation: Cab: Install to Main Memory or Internal Storage / Zip: Copy .dll to windows-dir.

Please respect the developer(s) of this software. If you download and use it, then buy or support it.

Hey Bendy, I didn't test it that long to say whether it effects the battery life or not.
I guess it does not have any effects on battery life because it just replaces some registry entries and one .dll.
But I'll have an eye on it and will report it in some days :-)

Oh I'm really sorry for that. Of course it IS freeware. Changed :-)

@ PSL:
I used an equivalent on my old Touch to show percentage and a small battery... but I really can't find it right now! But I will report you the app to change it when I found it :-)
And as I mentioned in Requirements this is just programmed for the Diamond and it's "family" ;-)

[edit]
Maybe I used a further version of Battery Status.. or now known as Home++.
Home++
I think there was the possibility to change some Battery-settings with some config settings...?!
Try it out :-) If you are not able to change the original battery icon I will tell you another software... but for that I have to check out another Touch Plus, not my one.

Have a nice evening :-)

After some time of searching I wasn't able to find out wich software I used on my Touch to change the battery... But there are some tools like those I mentioned in the release test that could do the job. Didn't "batti" work well?

Did not work 4 me...on my HTC Touch Pro DUTCH. setup via CAB file gave an error, tried to manually install reg file and dll (by renaming old dll in windows folder, for backup purpose and exporting registry before importing new one).
After installing and rebooting, it did not show the percentage or color, it only displayed a full battery indicator (default), but it was not full!! The only symbol which worked was the G for GPRS....

So i switched back to normal dll and registrysettings.

I liked the feature, but sadly it doesn't work @ my Touch PRO....

:(

I installed both cabs as explained, and they installed correctly. However, after a soft-reset, what I did get was the regular battery icon, only FULL, while it had actually about 20% charge. Tried couple of more resets - nothing. Uninstalled it, soft-reset and now at least it shows the correct amount of bars.
Any idea how to solve this? I really liked the look and functionality of this app.
