no it doesn't mess up anything , works great
i have tested it on the blackstone (htc touch hd) wvga
to check if it works with all kinds of proggs i tested the following programs:

name: category: supports: result after screen changing:
VSPainter [Imaging] (only vga supported) works 100% good
Boneyboy [game] (only vga supported) works 95% good, but needs a virtual D-pad
Diamond hologram [other] (only vga supported) works 100% good


works also 100% good on the following devices:
SE Xperia X1, HTC Touch HD, HTC MAX 4G (same results, tested on phones of friends)
works with the following roms:
WM5.0, WM6.0, WM6.1;
WM6.5 not supported!

it is recommended download the latest version (v3) cuz that supports also sqvga
