Kaisoft Mosquito Prevent v1.2
Requirements: Pocket PC 2000, 2002, 2003 or 2005
Overview: Why should your PocketPC rest while you are sleeping? Especially when obtrusive mosquitos stop you from relaxing or even bite you. Now you can stop looking for expensive devices to keep them away. Thanks to Mosquito Prevent your PocketPC can provide the same job. The program plays a high tone in endless loop mode, which is supposed to keep mosquitos and their like on distance. Three different tone levels: 9.000 Hz, 16.000-20.000 Hz and 22.000 Hz. You can also toggle the display with the Media Player to save battery power

It does not work on my Universal (WM5).

Looking on PokectGear, last version is 4.4 so this version must be enough dated.

ROTFL
Is there an app that will turn your screen into a bug zapper?

lol, maybe it is possible......a program that could suck up so much power and blow out the screen, when a bug touches it, it will be burned. one drawback, you need to buy a new ppc for 200-500 instead of a real bug zapper for 20. :) :o

Im not trying to being mean but i find this software kinda cheap no offence. You could just kill a mosquito with your own hands. Not even a product for mosquitoes can keep mosquitoes away from you

if i remeber correctly, there are sounds which only some animals can hear. for example a dog whistle, only a dog can hear it, not the owner of the dog. i am guessing that this program sends a high pitch sound which only mosquitoes can hear, if they have sestive ears, then they would go away.

I guess the question is... Are all ppc devices capable of emitting the frequency with the speaker + audio of the device? Depending on the manufacturer, the frequency range may differ. (Shrugs shoulders)

hi diskmat,
i don't think so.... the sound file (wav,mp3....etc) is the problem, as long as the ppc can play the sound it should work.

The question isn't whether the PPC can actually play the sound or whether it can be heard by human hears.

The question is rather if the sound waves will actually drive mosquitos away as the product claims.

The answer is NO.

See this website: http://www.bccdc.org/content.php?item=204

There are also many repellants that have been shown NOT to protect against mosquito bites, including bug zappers, devices that give off sound waves and Citrosa plants.
