Overview: Save all your bar codes into this program and have the cashier scan the image from your Pocket PC. It would save wallet space and be really cool to boot!

hmm.. when i try to reproduce a barcode from sth i have here in front of me, e.g. a book or sth else, the code isn't 100% the same... only ~80% of the bars are the same and the other bars aren't the same ;( perhaps there a different systems.. i tried it with an australian and a german code :-/

seems to work only with 12 numbers (0 00000 00000 0), not with 13 (0 000000 000000) numbers as we have here in germany

how do you scan the bar's? can it be done with the build in camera?

oh i now see that you'll probably have to put in the code, and not scan it.

Above, I have two of my grocery cards entered into my Bar Code manager. In the editor screen, one can enter a bar code number and view it in real time.

The API (BarCode.dll) is simple:
Create a BarCodeSerializer object.
Set the DisplayNumber property to your bar code number you want to process.
Use the IsValid property verify it is a valid 12 digit bar code.
Use the MakeValid property to make a valid 12 digit bar code from an 11 digit number. Some cards only show 11 of the 12 digits. The 12th is used as a "check" digit.
Use the CreateBitmap method to create a bitmap of approximately the desired dimensions.

In a possible future release, I might extend the bar code manager to take a picture with a high resolution camera and import a bar code number. That would be an interesting computer vision problem!

Tried this out and it correctly makes the barcodes that are 12 digits. Tried scanning my grocery card at the self checkout w/ my ppc and couldnt get it to work. Will keep though to see how it will work in other ways..?

Get a screen capture program then capture your barcodes edit them with a picture program to your likings then print them out, you can use a scanner when you print them on paper but not on your ppc. It can only handle UPC-A which is 12 numbers. Very basic program could be alot better if it was possible to have a barcode scroll bar for when your doing alot of barcodes, and upgrade types of handled bar codes. now if you have a pc get a program for your pc becuase i would only use this barcode maker if i had no other way to create barcodes.
