Hi Sarah,
sorry for discovering this a bit late.... but Index11 and Index15 in the Italian version are corrupted: 11 is empty and 15 has only one entry in English.
More, having the lists folder with the INDEXxx.txt doesn't work: I get a message saying that Indexxx.txx is missing. Of course if I copy the files and rename to .txx everything work well.

I have updated the Languages Update link (main posting) after fixing the two groups files.

The newlist file is just a sorted A-Z group or habitat list. It can be ignored, or you may use it as a habitat or group list, if you prefer sorted lists rather than the standard bird order. Simply rename it to the group or habitat list you wish to replace. (I will add a feature to the editor in future to make this a simple thing to do.)

I have tried it in German on my own PPC and it works fine.

I think i know where the misunderstanding has happened.
My read me.txt file said to copy the German files into the 'PBEdata/LINKS' folder.
That was wrong instructions for the German files. Sorry

Do this...

Go INSIDE the 'GERMAN' folder and copy everything within that folder into your 'PBEdata' folder.

This will overwrite all the *.TXX files with the German language files and the English version is gone.

(I think you were copying all of the German folder into the 'PBEdata's 'Links/' folder - my fault!)

This procedure works!

I limited the 'groups' lists to 14 because of display limitations when the groups menu opens. I see no reason why I could not change this in the next point release, to allow more than 14, if it would be useful.

Any future changes I make to the software will NOT affect any of the language lists in any way and would not affect any work anyone has done up to this point. I intend to maintain backward compatibility on any future release from the current point release (v2.3.2).

The only changes to the DATA within the PBEdata folder will be to ADD further birds to the list. I will work out how to do that without affecting everyone's own personal lists before any new birds are added to the database.

Hi squawksarah this is a great bit of software. I too had to change the SDCARD.txx but for my MWG Atom life it needed to be:
\memory card\
but after that it runs faultlessly.

The bird sounds are excellent and are loud and clear. I took my PDA on a walk this afternoon and not only was I able to identify most birds I came across but I had a two way conversation with a chaffinch who clearly thought I was an intruder in his territory and came within a few feet of me to see me off. As for the crows in my area they must have been totally confused as an entire birds of prey possie turned up in their territory from Eurasian Griffon Vultures to Spanish Imperial Eagles and Golden Eagles. It certainly got them in a flap.

After download read the Read Me First.txt file.

The new version adds extra Habitat and Group lists and allows an A-Z sorted Habitat or Group to be imported into the Editor to be added directly to the Groups/Habitats lists.

I have also fixed a bug in the saving of edited Habitats and Groups files.

Polish language bird lists have been added.

A new and completely re-designed User Manual in '.PDF' format is included and it gives clear examples of program and Editor functions, using descriptions with images. The document is optimised for PDA/PPC usage.
