You seem to have uploaded the full program and data in the above link, so I have extracted the Dutch language files and updated them to the new V2.4 version format.

They are now added to the languages link in the main posting (page 1).

Thanks to all your help we now have the Bird Lists in the following languages:

English, Dutch, German, French, Italian, Polish, Spanish.

German and Dutch also have full text translations!



PREVIOUSLY USED CUSTOM LISTS - HOW HAVE THEY BEEN AFFECTED BY THIS CHANGE?
FWIW: the difference between earlier versions and v2.4 is that I have added 2 new 'spare' Bird Habitat entries and 14 new 'spare' Bird Groups entries (as requested). This slightly affects the habitats.txx file by adding 2 extra titles to it. It also adds a new lists file called Groups2.txx that holds the extra 14 group slots.

To use future versions of the software you will have to update your language files to reflect this. Download the Languages (2.4mb) file in the main post to do this. If you made custom changes to your previous Habitat/Group lists then you should only copy the extra list files to your PBEdata/LISTS/ folder:

GROUPS2.TXX
INDEX15.TXX to INDEX 38.TXX

And you must edit HABITATS.TXX and add two extra titles to the end of the list as thus...

UNUSED 9
UNUSED 10

This will make sure your custom lists are not overwritten.

This change in language lists becomes the final design change.

I had to make it to add the extra user-lists so I decided to do it early on (i.e. now .

The program's format will now remain stable.

I intend to add extra birds to the main INDEX1.TXX bird data list only. This will not affect your user-defined lists.

Please do PM me if you wish to see specific birds added to the program

After instalation I get the message: "this program is suitable for a previous version of the system software".
Unsuccessful I used many tricks to install this app, followed the all instructions.
Among many error messages I see : "can't find: "Moja pamie/SPBdata"
The name of memory card in my phone is "Moja pamięć" the last two end letters are polish.
I have polish, branded ROM RyLit-2 made in Februar this year, with NET 3.5 and FLASH LITE 3.1.
It works very good with all other applications.
What can I do now to install PBE.

1. Moja pamięć - I wonder if the last two letters are causing problems with the English-language compiler software?

2. "this program is suitable for a previous version of the system software". This seems much more likely to be the problem. The program recognises a compatibility problem with your WM6 operating system.

Try installing the program using the Alternative 'CAB-exe' which is also part of the download file-set. You may not have tried this because I have described it as a CAB for 'older operating systems'. But actually, it was compiled for all operating systems including WM6. So try it and let me know if it works!

Dear Sarah,
thank you for your answer. I have tried to install both methods, using PC and alternative CAB-exe. After instaling from alternative C-e file, I have not
shortucts to the program ( there are if normal CAB is installing) and the message is the same: " SDCardData Files missing - Insert correct card /Moja pami/PBEdata" , Sd CardData Files missing. Exiting! HABITATS.TXX.. missing and s.o.
Before starting the installing, I copied the folder PBEdata to the main root folder of my storage card.
I hope you will find some solution.

I'm giving you the exact translating of the message which, appears after installing using CAB file.
I should have started from that, in mine opinion this explains the problem.
Thus " It is impossible to display properly this program because it has been designed for the previous version of the Windows Mobile software."
Therefore I have to wait for an Avia version for WM 6.1, if such will come into being in the future.
I'm positive that many from users of HTC and Samsung will be interesed to have this nice apllication, maybe in higher picture definition.

Anbo, witaj rodaku , I found a solution. The problem is file text encoding. On my HTC Touch Pro the storage card is named "Karta pamięci". When I edited the file SDCARD.TXT in the device, it saved the file in 8-bit ANSI encoding. The trick is to save the file in 16-bit Unicode encoding. I did it on Linux which uses Unicode by default, but it is also possible on Windows. Just copy the file to your PC, open it in notepad, fix the path to "\Moja pamięć\", select "save as", and in the lowermost box choose Unicode.

Witaj apienk, I've tried your solutions for both installations (CAB and CAB-exe) and it does'nt work on my Omnia. I think the problem is WM 6.1. what is distinctly signalling by system and maybe NET 3.5 and FLASH LITE 3.1. in my ROM. Nevertheless thanks for your help and it's nice to meet compatriot.

I am using the standard CAB version 2.4.0 on WM 6.1 with NET 3.5. From your first post I reckon your original problem was solvable by Unicode encoding (this does generate a lot of file not found errors), and then you tried to install the other CAB. Try to uninstall, delete the folder in Program Files if it's still there, then reinstall the standard CAB, update to 2.4.0, install language files. Finally, put the attached Unicode SDCARD.txt I made for you in the program folder in Program Files. If that doesn't help, you're out of luck.
