I would very much appreciate it if anyone is able to make some mirrors of the software :)
I could then add them to the main post.

(It took me five hours to upload this 55mb file. LOL)

I see from the OP that this has a VGA version for Windows Laptop/Desktop PC. Is there a VGA version for PPC?

Thanks in advance.

I am still working on that version. I intended to release it with this one but I am having a little problem with the bird songs (they don't sound when played). Apart from that little bug it is ready to release.

In the meantime you should be able to use the QVGA version on a VGA PPC. It will force the itself onto the larger screen size, albeit with some graphical loss.

It's the 'songs' together with the pictures I wanted Sarah. I had this thought a while ago when we were out walking. I wondered if there was a program I could use to show my son the bird and then play him the song and for us to then look out/listen for particular birds when we are out walking. So I'm really looking forward to your VGA version Sarah.

Thank you in advance of the release. :)

This version will do that. As I say, the only limitation is that the QVGA is forced to VGA screen size.

Thanks I'll test this. I'm not fond of birds but as biologist I have to keep this in my device ;)
Great work

i love this application and have been using v2.3
then noticed this version released and am a bit dissapointed.
you have removed the bird group on the right hand soft key
which made finding birds out in the field easier
also i loved the mix of illustration and actual photographs of the birds.
Why use an onscreen arrow function when we have touchscreen to scroll about.
i could find a bird quicker with old version, than even collins bird guide.
sorry don't want to sound negative, your work on this is fantastic.
+1 for a VGA version please.
do you have or post this application anywhere else, would like to link it places

Hi Thuduk,. Thanks for the comments.

Buttons vs. Dragging images: I did experiment with dragging the large image rather than using on-screen arrow buttons. I prefer the tap/drag technique too! My boyfriend didn't like it at all and so I used the arrow button method. Maybe that was the wrong decision given, as you say, the beauty of the touchscreen.

I will look into it again to see if it might be possible to give people the choice of one or the other methods.

Right-hand Group menu: I agree with you. The simplicity of using both soft menus to find bird categories was a nice idea and maybe (again) I should look at how to reinstate it. The change came about because I added more 'options' and also because I added more 'groups lists'. But I agree with you - the concept of the program was 'easy use in the field', sort of thing.

I will redesign the program so that the two soft menus are back as they were in previous versions ;)

Should take maybe a day for the program original menu system update to be posted.

Hello squawksarah
Nice program.
I am adapting the Dutch translation (adding the new birds and better layout for the birds info), hope to be ready tommorow so
I can post them.
I also detected a little mistake in English version, Latin name for bird 191 is not correct, pls correct in your list.
