This is great software, but I have to say I find the drag pad really annoying - it covers a chunk of the picture, especially when the buttons are enabled as well. Is there any way to change it so that you can scroll around the large images just by "touch and drag" anywhere on the image (maybe a transparent drag pad the size of the whole image display area)?

Other than that, it works great, and its very handy!

This release adds a 'drag-pad' to the large image scrolling method. You can choose (from Habitats/Options menu) to use either the little dragpad thingy, or the on-screen arrow buttons (or both). (The compiler I am currently using doesn't allow finger scrolling of a picture area (how dumb is that!). I may port over to a different language compiler at which time I will be able to make the big picture scroll by touching anywhere on the image, as you rightly suggested.)

main menus have reverted to the way they were in version 2.x. I moved the menus around in v3.0 and this was a mistake. The whole idea of the software is easy use in the field so I re-instated the bird GROUPS menu as it was.

Is it only the program that changed or did you some new data ?
If only the program has changed can you pls upload only the .cab file.

If the data didn't change I do not have to download 56 MB.

TIA

Hi squawksarah
Great prog

some mirrors
http://rapidshare.com/files/258626145/P ... GA_PPC.ZIP

and
as Blokken requested
just the new WM5/6 cab
http://rapidshare.com/files/258626482/P ... PC.ARM.CAB

and just the new CE 2002 2003 file
http://rapidshare.com/files/258626583/P ... 03_CAB.exe

hope that's Ok to up the seperate parts, Sarah.

One ? about the order
* View bird lists in scientific order or A-Z sorted order.
means you can't easily search for any birds that have a European variant.
eg the Robin is down as European Robin, can it be the other way round as Robin European with the Species first?

PS Then when you go on to conquer the World version the Robin American would be next to Robin European ;)

Thanks for the mirrors and the CAB, piratepete! (I couldn't get back online until today.)

Robins! One way to get around the sort for Robin type of problem would be for me to remove words like 'European..' and 'common..' from bird names. Or maybe your idea Robin (European) would also do.

CABs, User Manual and Mirror will be added to the main post. :)

See you have been working hard on this release, but sorry to say I still prefer the first version....here is why

With the two soft buttons on the bottom I can flick between groups and types of birds.
with the three small buttons up the side I can see Latin names, info etc...
with the main buttons on the page I can hear the birds, flick between illustrations, photo's and map
most importantly I can search the group I am in directly from hear also, which is a must if you say are looking at a finch, not sure which one, but you are in the finches group..a quick search with the button lauches that group.

As I see it why change something that works extremly well.

I use your v 2 daily, pure genius if you ask me...

Yup the piccies had to go really. They didn't help much in bird identification. The larger illustration gives useful differentations between bird plumages, etc.

Do you really find them useful? There is no reason why they could not be used. I have a cunning plan!

no, really though.. are they really missed?
