Hi Kike

The altitude data is only accurate if there are enough 'in use' satellites to work out an accurate 3D fix.

(I think I will remove the height aspect from the data in future releases as it doesn't seem to have a valid use.)

Some program allows a "correction" value for altitude and a normal value is 50 meters: this means that the variability of altitude is quite high: yes , the more satellites in view the more valid the value, but remember that changing the effemeris (ie the bunch of satellites used for fix) you'll get different altitude values also with fix showing exactly the same point.
At the end of the day the important thing is a reliable set for Lat and Long.

Hello and thanks for a very impressiv application. Looks great on my HTC TD2.
However there is a problem for Swedish users. The application ignores to display
our 3 special accented characters which have ASCII values above 127.
That makes the Swedish names for the birds a bit hard to read, every other Swedish
bird name contains one or two of them and most Swedish bird watchers don't know
the English or Latin names. Can it be that text is implemented as "array of signed char"
which makes those values appear negative to the application?
In that case the use of "unsigned char" could eventually solve the problem?
I have a edited the name list to use correct Swedish spelling and you can find a copy at
www.hjeltman.se/filer/sw_names.zip for testing.
If that can be fixed, I can start translate the info text to Swedish, if You like.
I've been developing in C / C++ for a number of years and know that you sometimes
have to take care of those letters with high ASCII values to avoid unwanted "features"
in the finished application but the problem was more frequent in C then
in C++ where you have object oriented text handling.

Ok, thanks for info, I'll convert my ASCII to UTF-8 and give it a try.
That's new for me, even thou I've been around for some time, I punched
my 1:st program on cards for an old IBM main frame back in 1965. The
programming language was FORTRAN IV. Stone age...
There is always something new to learn.

Yes, UTF-8 made it look good! I'll check the names and spelling once more then I have a correct swedish list here
that can be linked to the program.
Thanks again and a happy new year to all!

Ok, now there is a file with the swedish names in UTF-8 format. I hope all is correct now
at least it is a much better start then the swedish language pack I downloded some
weeks ago. www.hjeltman.se/filer/sw_names.zip

Sorry, I had not changed the rights to the file, now it's free to download.
I hope U can use it. I like the program and hope that many Swedish birdwatchers will discover it.
For the moment I have translated the first 11 pages of the manual.
Automatic translations from English to Swedish is a bit problematic because many Swedish words
containing two parts are written without a space between the parts but that's not always the case.
(I have been involved in some program translations before)

If U have problem getting the file let me know.

Hi,
First of all, I must congratulate you, Sarah, for this wonderful program. It's just really great. Now, knowing full well what I'm getting into, would it be at all possible to have this as an iphone and ipod app? I'd be one more option… thanks for all you do,

Xavier

Hi pepmaiko

I wish I knew how to port wm programs to these other phone o/s types (like Android etc) but I don't. But I will try to find out.

Hi Sarah,
now that Fungi is almost OK , I'm back to pocket birds trying to build (as said longtime ago) the best groups as possible. Everything is ok but I'm seeing a strange behaviour not noticed before (but now I'm going in depth...). Tapping on forward or backward , often the program skips one species so what you get is sort of one yes one not.. It's like keeping a "long" tap. Tried to work on screen sensitivity (WM6.1 has it) without success. Keeping the voices "on" the problem doesn't exists.
Second request: would it be possible , within options to add "run twice the voice" or similar. Have tried to reregister songs too short but it is an awful task.
Once more, thanks for your help

Hi Amedeo

Do you mean you wish to have the sound repeat?

Yes Sarah, this is the idea.
In many cases the song is very short, so need a double tap to listen twice.

Please, have you checked the problem of "tapping"?

Tks

A.
