In many cases the song is very short, so need a double tap to listen twice.

Please, have you checked the problem of "tapping"?

Tks

Hi Sarah,
forget my request. I'm working with AUDACITY and rearrange sounds: polish when needed and copy/paste when needed.
Problem is the file dimention.

Hi Sarah

This is a really amazing program! I only came across it by chance when trying to help a friend instal the collins eguide (unsuccessfully...... but I was trying to guide him over the phone). I have already dropped the photos in the PBE and zipped it along with the cab file and sent it via usendit to him.

Two questions:

1. am I able to drop the other PBE file uploaded containing all the Collins data and start using it instead of the default directory or even merge the two files and use both?

2. One of the things I find really really useful in the Collins guide, especially when travelling, is the ability to be within a group, eg Finches of Birds of Prey and when I hit the next key it goes onto the same screen of the next bird. Ie, if I am in the location map screen of Greenfinch and hit the next key it takes me straight to the map screen of the next finch. Then I can see at a glance that although I know it is a finch it cannot be that one as it is the wrong country/time of year whereas if it does appear to be the right time of year I can then look at the pictures and other info.

Even without that it is a really great program but if it could be added it would be superb.

Cheers

Same problem here: when a search on Latin names is tryed all I get is an empty window (the one where results are normally displayed) and that window stays there (empty) also launchung a search on local names. Search on local names can be performed as many times as you want but when switching to latin the search stops on that empty windows..

Hi wg

You should be able to mix the data up as you outlined in point 1. Use the data files as you find useful.

I will bear in mind what you say about being able to move through files viewing maps. Maybe this will be implimented in the coming new release.

I never tested it for Latin searching.

It never occured to me to do that. So it probably simply doesn't work.

I will look at the Latin search and see why it isn't working.

Sarah,
it works on the PC version and very well.. do not know if this is related to the specific VGA (or WVGA?) version.
Please, could you check the problem with tapping? (see my previous posts).
My wife is quite annoyed by the fact that to use the application I have to play bird songs... :? :(

Many thanks

Hi Amedeo

The tap and miss a bird problem is odd. I have seen it on my ppc too. but I believe it is because a tap is held too long and more than one record is processed. The code shows records one at a time. But I guess it depends on processor speed. My ppc is 400mhz. Because the bird sounds slow down the program (as you say processor loading) a tap would be less likely to extend over more than one record. If you have a fast processor that might be what is causing it for you. I could add a fast-processor option that would sort it in the same way that playing bird songs does. :)

Sarah, my PPC has a 533 MHz processor, so you seem to have catched the problem.
Tks

Hi Sarah

Should the Collins data file be used instead of or in addition to the one supplied with the program?
