It works pretty well on my O2 Atom Life...but tried it on my friend's Dopod (wm2005) it wont work at all...

you can use Conduits Pocket Player. it's one of the best players with several unique features and a today plugin.

it's tested and working on WM5 devices as well. if you have problem using the setup installer, download the CAB file from one of the following links and make sure to install it on the main memory.
