Reboot v1.0 (Freeware)
Requirements: PPC WM5, WM6 - Tested on several devices
Overview: I have been looking around and I did not seem to find any small application which enables a simple reboot without confirmation: “Reboot” does just that!
Image

To use “Reboot” just store the small “Reboot.exe” file anywhere on your SD card and make a Start Menu shortcut (you could use Resco). Ideally place this colorful icon somewhere handy on Today.

One single tap on the icon and your device will reboot!

In combination with any scheduling program you could even execute “Reboot.exe” on/at a specific weekday/time for a periodical (healthy) soft reset of your PPC.

If you found this small application useful, please let me know :)

More Info:
Code: Select all(extracted from other application & modified to suit the purpose)

Download Instructions: Password to open rar (all in UPPER CASE): PPCWEB

IMPORTANT: I have posted/uploaded an .exe standalone (portable) file and NOT a .cab file (apparently the site administration added the .cab file to my post afterwards). Please note that the instructions I provide in my post are ONLY applicable if you download the file I have uploaded (see Rapidshare link one line below where you can download a .rar file with the portable .exe inside)

Eta Beta, nice release, but... first of all, check the forum if this program hasn't been released yet. Then please correct your post to suit the site's release template. Look HERE if you want to know how that looks, eventually use this Releaser Tool to help you build up your release post.

Look at your release World Clock, we edited that for you as an example.

Only when it's correctly formatted the release can be categorized and you will enter the kingdom of "rewarded releasers".

Hi Guy1731,

I finally found a (early AM hour) moment when the PPCW page responded "a bit quicker" and I have edited my post... Hopefully in full compliance this time :)

I am glad to see that -despite the sluggish response of the site- the posts got quite a few hits and the file has been downloaded by most of the visitors 8)

psShutXP is a reboot tool that also reboots a ppc. You should take a look at that program too.

psShutXP asks for confirmation every time you reboot... if you want to reboot WITH ONE SINGLE TAP this is the only solution crazysane. :)

I also recall that psShutXP creates a sort of a "twin" file called "Screen Off" or something like that, which is basically useless and cannot be deleted.

Another drawback of psShutXP is that you cannot move it to a different location because after a soft reset it pops up where it was originally placed!

Test "Reboot" and you will notice the difference! And remember that "Reboot" it is ONLY 6K!!!

Cheers,

Eta Beta

can you enlighten us all to which program you use in order to get your icons in the bottom?

Ideally place this colorful icon somewhere handy on Today.

how?

Now ghjkl I guess you passed the point (indicated in my first post and highlighted in blue here below) of bringing the "Reboot" icon/shortcut into your programs, right?

"...To use “Reboot” just store the small “Reboot.exe” file anywhere on your SD card and make a Start Menu shortcut (you could use Resco). Ideally place this colorful icon somewhere handy on Today....One single tap on the icon and your device will reboot!..."

Install "Battery Status" (now renamed "HomeScreen PlusPlus"... Just Google it... It's freeware but a small donation to the developer is definitely in order :) ) and enable the (nice) "tray icon" function to position a variety of icons right there where you see them in my post.

Remember that there are a number of (almost) equally good alternatives.

Another one is the Resco Today Plugin, which comes free with Resco Explorer (which is NOT free... and remember that if you like that application you should buy it! Do I get some extra WRZ$ for having written that?)

Or a bunch of other launchers (my favorite one is "DinarSoft Handy Launcher")... Just take your pick

Happy to notice that you seem to enjoy my small contribution to this great site (PPCW) :)

Have a nice day.

Raiisak has a similar reset program that can be found here:

Hi scarface,

Thanks for pointing that out.

Did you personally try Raiisak's application?

With that appz can you reboot without having to tap on the "Are you sure you want to soft reset?" YES/NO prompt?

Could you kindly tell me the size/footprint of that application?

Reboot is ONLY 6kb... 8) and it exists since January 2008... If I am not wrong Raiisak released "Soft Reset" sometimes in June... :?

Thanks in advance for your feedback :)
