Applications related to your today screen

I don't know why people like this MobileShell so much? It needs more then 10MB Ram, its slowly and not simple. I tried so many today screens and i always go back to iphonetoday 1.25 with Resco Contact, this is one of the best combinations for me. Simple, good looking and it needs less then 3MB Ram. Just try it....

Size on device: 8.6 MB !!!
why? 3d sms view and carussel view are stupid.
they could be spectacular, but aren't useful at all.
what do you want to do with your phone? show it to friends or use it?

mobile shell 3.0.1 requires only 4 MB and does all.

SPB should focus on usability, fast operation and low ram-usage instead of copying an iphone interface with all its spectacular stupidity.

in my opinion 3.5 sucks, it is a resource hog, and for the omnia, when you turn the phone 2 landscape the professional page becomes distorted. they removed the set ringtone option for the normal ring. when you try to set a ringtone for a contact, you cannot preview. when the phone rings that set ringtone will not play. all in all 3.0.1 was better. these are just my complaints.

thanks...

Resource Hog? I think there's something wrong with your phone or your install or you didn't actually measure the resource usage.

On my old Hermes with WM6.1, 3.5 is showing a usage between 2.85MB to 3.63MB. CPU usage is 0%, and is 6th in the list arranged by CPU usage (It's using lesser CPU than cprog.exe, device.exe, gwes.exe and filesys.exe). Overall CPU usage of the device is ranging from 1% to 9% with an average of 4%. When 3.5 is unloaded, the average CPU usage is 3%, meaning which 3.5 is using about 1% of the CPU. Not bad at all.

Now if you want the looks+features but still want to use heavy programs like Opera Mobile, just exit the shell and you'll get all your memory back. :)

And the 8MB storage requirements isn't much, IMHO, and I'm saying this by experience of using old 200MHz and 400Mhz devices on Non-naked (bigstorage) ROMs. If you find yourself running out of device storage, just don't install application programs in there (install only system-level/utility/important programs). Or you could use a BigStorage ROM. Finally, you can delete all unnecessary files from the installation folder, like other languages and unused pictures. You can even modify the pictures to a lower quality one if you like.

My point is, I don't think size is an issue here, and people who are calling this bloated should do a reality check.

lefty111 wrote:AWESOME!!, Touch Pro 2 here. My gsensor was not "working " on the carousel view and I did not read anywhere as to what the issue was. I hope this helps even just one person out. It also applies to the 3d viewing eye candy in sms or email. While it may not work for every phone it( due to the phone) it did get mine working properly. You have to ENABLE the 3d accelerator within the spb settings themselves. To make sure you have it on , navigate to SPB "settings",
then go to "Spb Mobile Shell" , then go to "system" , and there you will find the "use 3d accelerator" setting, set it to yes, then hopefully , you will find a nice little treat when you use the 3d sms or email or carousel(as long as you have gsensor).Let me know if this has helped anyone..

:D Two thumbs up! thx dude! Works perfect on my Touch Pro.
