If you're reading this, you probably have already heard of the power that affirmations can have on one's life. I know this power first hand- having used it to take me from being depressed and diagnosed with Bipolar II disorder, to being completely stable emotionally and passionately pursuing my goals day after day.

I've used affirmations to hunt down success as well. As a classical cellist, I wanted to go to a great music school that would allow me to develop as a musician in the best way possible. I now go to a music school with a 13% acceptance rate (Eastman School of Music). When I auditioned for this school, I had only been playing for 6 years. I was very aware of the fact that many of the people there had been playing twice as long as I had. Deciding to affirm to myself every day that it was possible gave me the confidence to actually go out there and achieve it.

I write these books about self development for one reason and one reason alone: this shit changed my life. I owe so much of getting through tough times and achieving success to self development, and I want so badly for as many people as possible to know how much control we all really have over our lives.

Affirmations are a very, very powerful tool to actually take this control over our lives. In essence, an affirmation is a positive statement you say to yourself with emotional intensity defining what you want to have, do or become. You use affirmations to design your life- or more so who you are as a human being.

If you don't believe you can make more money, lose weight, start a business, whatever it may be- it will not happen. If you don't believe it's possible, why would you be motivated to take any action whatsoever. You use affirmations to condition the truth: the truth that it's not only possible, but it literally cannot not happen if you take the action necessary.

You need that kind of confidence to achieve any goal, and affirmations are a very powerful tool to help achieve that.
