There is mention of a new speed warning alert in V6.

"Speeding alert: Notifies the driver if they’re speeding, even if they're not in navigation mode"

Is this linked to the speed camera files by any chance, as I have not gone near any cameras yet, and there is no warning if you exceed the limit on a normal road.

I have replaced the TomTom cameras with the ones from http://www.pocketgpsworld.com as they are more up to date, but cannot tell if this would disable this function.

Found out it works. There is a speed display on the info part of the screen that show your speed relative to what the road speed limit should be. This is shown in white if you are below or just over the limit, but changes to red if you exceed the limit.

PS - Just used traffic info to avoid a 13Km (1 hour 15 min tail back) jam on the M25. God am I happy.

Some installation instructions:

1. Make sure you repack it in the cab, and delete setup.dll from the cab, else it wont install!

2. How2 Debranch the incompatible device msg.

also delete in the 2577 folder the following things

then everythings works cool!

Instalation Instructions :

4. Install map(s)
Install the map(s) that you want to the root of your memory card. They must be compatible with version 6. Find them sorted in archive(s) above.

NOTICE - OLD MAPS FOR TomTom v5 WILL NOT WORK !!!!

If you don't have any maps and just want to test the application, you can use the Guam map contained in the archive(s) above from point 2: just copy the "Guam" folder to the root of your memory card.

I removed the BtCoreIf.dll from the cab and installed it. Things seemed to work OK on my HP hx2490, but the bluetooth connection fails. It keeps trying to connect .....

For the 1000th Time THERE ARE NO AUSTRALIAN, ITALIEN, GERMAN, BENELUX MAPS YET and I'm starting to prey that none of them will ever be released, 'caus you peolpe suck worse. Can't you read? Every 3rd Post is just whining about a map...man I'm so pissed off.

Problems with the sound try this:


Ok I use also a ASUS A636N and A632N, and it works, ok I tell you:

Before you install the TomTom6 Release you make a backup from your running system.
After the Backup you install TT6, then you go to Programs/Navigator and Transfer this to your Storage Card.
Now you make a Clean-Boot (Hard-Reset), and play back your Backup.
Now you can start TomTom without isntall from your Storage Card, and all works fine.

If you read this to late, so transfer your Programs/Navigator to the Storage card, make a Hard Reset and install all new. Only TT6 you dont install, use only the file from the Storage card.

This works for me!

Nothing wrong with the GB map download on page 1, just tested it.
GB Plus has all of Europes major roads on it.

For those who live in the UK I have made an easy to use package which includes.

* TT6 Application
* Latest GB postcodes
* GB map plus major roads of western europe
* European Raster files (all other links seem to have USA only rasters)

All you do is download, un RAR it all to your SD card and run the 2 files in the Install folder. You can also select to install on the device or SD card.

To answer the tomtom home question. You install tomtom home on your desktop Pc and it talks to the PPC device via activesync.

Im just working on a destop installer. Its based on the tomtom one and will currently let you install great britain and shortly western europe. Just need to upload it.

Western Europe ? it works here!! 21mb free on a clean 1gb card. Maybe some old stuff still hanging on the card??

First of all welldone mates! great work, especially ifalleni. I installed ifalleni version in my Prophet and worked in a flash! with GB maps.

Somebody earlier requested bug reports. I am giving the errors which I noticed.

1) Known one first - There is no screen rotate function.

2) Important one, which could force people to uninstall tt6 - There is no way to turn off the screen while tt6 is running. You cannot turn off the power if the ppc nor using 3rd party software like screen toggle. This is very annoying since I used to turn off the display while driving on motorways to save battery. I am not sure if anyone else noticed this. Any fix? ifalleni? or anybody?

I have an app called "Vidya Task Manager" from vidiyasmart.com. I assigned it to a hardware button, and it launches nicely while TomTom is running. I am thus able to quickly access the start menu.

I think you simply missed what I was querrying. Is there any way to turn off the display of the device while tt6 is running?
