put your map on the root of your device or on the root of your storage card, thus \Storage Card\Australia

I have tried that, but still tomtom can't detect the map.

Well i have put tomtom 7 into my new PNA ( windows CE 5 and 480x272 resolution ) and it does not load.
I get the message " one or more of the components cannot be found".
I even get this error when i try to run it via CE5 directly from the SD card clicking tomtom.exe.
The exact same SD card worked fine in my other PNA (with CE 5 and 320x240 resolution ).
The default install / execute/exe paths are 100% correct.
Has anyone any ideas ?

maybe some dll files are missing in the tomtom folder, and it could be that those files are available on your other device (the dll can be in your tomtom folder or in the windows folder).
if you want you can try with my tomtom i use on wince5, I have a lot of dll files in my tomtom folder...
i've uploaded it here:
Code: Select allhttp://www.megaupload.com/?d=5PL51689

I use this tomtom with Mio C250 WinCE 5.0. If the tomtom.exe doesn't want to open on your device, keep the other dll files and just replace tomtom.exe with yours and try again.

Many thanx for your help.
Its works to some degree.
It ran first time, and i patched map again with new device id.
Now i am getting "not enough memory" and tomtom quits.
What is strange is that my new PNA has twice the memory of my old PNA and tomtom ran fine on that.
Any idea why this is happening ?

make sure you don't have more than 2 meta files in a same folder, only <map>.meta and <map>.meta.dct may be in the folder of your map. If an older meta file version is still there, you can get out of memory errors.
If this doesn't solve your problem, i've uploaded some other tomtom.exe files I've got for wince 4 and wince 5, try them by just replacing them in your tomtom folder.

I renamed the tomtom.exe file and ran it several times and now it works 100% Ok.
I could not get my gps to connect to a com port, just as well i had some after market software for virtual com ports on my sat nav.
All is fine now.
Thank you very much.

Wonder if anyone can help, I know it's not a PDA problem.
I have Tomtom 1 V3 with the UK and Ireland maps on it, V705.
I've got a later version of the UK maps, but how can I tell if they are compatible. I've got the V725 ones but the device doesn't recognise them. When I go to switch maps only the original UK one is listed.

I've used the keygen and the meta file and device ID and generated the dct file and copied it to the map folder.

Is there a way to tell what maps will work with this device, and do I need to edit or patch anything on the device itself in order to get it ro recognise them.

Sorry if this has been covered before, if it has can someone paste a link to the page/thread.

Many thanks.

OK, I've updated the device using Tomtom home and the software has updated from V7??? to V8.010. It now sees the V725 map but says it won't work with this device. So any idea what version maps will.

Thanks.
