I would appreciate if any one can help with the external GPS settings in my mob too. I am in melbourne and I don't have data plan. Thanks a lot guys..
My generic Chinese device did at first.
You would have thought that autodetect would have worked on its own, but it didn't.
I put
[gps]
port=1
baud=4800
in my sys.txt file and it worked first time.
1 and 4800 are the optimum values for my device.
You will have to put the optimum values in yours.
If you don't know them experiment, by working up the
port numbers starting at one.
Baud rate is not as critical although of course there is an optimum one Mine is 4800).
Good luck.

Open up sys.txt file with
notepad (say) and just alter the values and then click accept the changes when you try to close the file.
