At least not with the demo.

If you look into the data.zip file you will only find folders for the 320_240 and 400_240 resolution (landscape). I believe, the normal QVGA portrait mode for example would require an extra 240_320 folder, as with the iGO My way 2006 plus version.

I am wondering if the iGO8 final version gets the portrait mode at all.

Hi to all friends.

I would like to know if there is such device TMC Receiver to use with our fantastic iGO 8.
iGO 8 is a software and not an hardware device and in some screenshots there is TMC signs so this maybe seems that is possible to put a third party TMC RDS Device to use with it.

I would like all who are interested on TMC with iGO to put in reply every info about such TMC Devices like RoyalTek RTG 2000 Bluetooth TMC GPS Sirf3 known as ROADIATOR and where to buy or to find on the web.

There are now two versions of iGO 8, One for PPC (Windows Mobile O.S.) and one for PC (Windows O.S.). In the last I use it with a portable laptop computer and at VGA 800X600 is fantastic to see on my car. For this version maybe there is an external GPS TMC device that we can use or Such an electronic scheme circuit HOME MADE that we can connect trough a simple Mobile Radio on RDS Frequencies to the imput jack of a notebook laptop computer. I don't know if this protocol comunicates data via audio frequencies or packet data in order to trasmit to our pc.

SO
Thanks to everyone here who wants to give info about devices or solution in order to use TMC DATA for our iGO 8. Will be usefull to all who are interested in it.

In this iGO DEMO there is no TMC integrated. You have to wait for a release version of iGO8.

And does anyone have an idea when that will be? They've been delaying it for quite a while now...

Rumor has it, that this will happen to CeBit 2008 trade fair (Hannover, Germany, 4-9 March).

As I see there are only a few cities inside the .rar (and I don't live in one of those)
I wasn't able to get phoneme to work, but I was only able to test in simulation mode.

The software isn't very usable on my O2 XDA Orbit 2 (HTC Polaris). Nice interface, but hangs pretty bad sometimes. And not all functions work... worse than a beta, IMHO.

What means? That I cannot put an external TMC receiver to work with or not?
I want to test with an external TMC.

I wanted to do a test. Buy a simple and economic USB RADIO FM for windows and plug on a free Usb port.
Start the driver for this USB RADIO to work and run iGO 8. After I go to TMC Menu and start searching for a TMC Protocol signal coming on different ports.

Maybe could work. What is your opinion?

Only an USB RADIO connected to computer (ex. notebook) and iGO 8

Probably not, the USB port on the PNA is not a host, it will not supply power to the radio device. Even if you manage to connect, what driver do you plan to use for CE. I hear GPS manufacturers are working on USB TMS radios but I doubt it (maybe if also built in rechargable battery that can extend PNA use time). I think we might see bluetooth TMS radios soon though (opportunity for cellular phome makers here). In the US, it comes on the new HD radio network and those chips are still expensive and new to designers. I think its going to take most of this year for the TMS market to mature.

For the TMS screen in iGo8, go to Settings then choose Expert mode then settings again and you will see it at the bottom of the screen

I also predict that "Subscription POI services like" zagat will blossom in the next 3-5 years. Anyone looking to get in early on a web biz, look here! Just need a little bigger customer base (PNA and PDA owners) and a universal and easy way to deliver the POIs to the PNAs and theres a gold mine out there. but I digress OT.

@marius2000

I have TMC radio on my C710 and can confirm that TMC is not functional in the iGO8 demo version - the setup screen is there but not functioning at all - so don't waste your time!
