This software keeps changing my time zone each time I run it... Anybody else experiencing this problem?

For time zone pb:

Time-Zone Error in Nav N Go iGO 8
Based on user feedback, we inform you that, in the current versions of Nav N Go iGO 8, the Windows time zone may be incorrectly set depending on the GPS position (for instance, Minsk is selected for Hungary). The correction of the error is in process.

As soon as the correction is made, we will immediately release an automatic update that can be downloaded free of charge with the use of the Content Manager. The exact time of the correction will be published on my.navngo.com. In case time-zone errors appear, you can temporarily correct them on your device by editing:
/Program Files/iGO8/sys.txt
and adding the following lines:
[timezone]
sync_os_timezone=0
reset_os_timezone=0
Attention: The modifications will only be activated when Nav N Go iGO 8 is restarted.

Nav N Go apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.

Does anyone know the SYS.TXT commands to stop showing the "blue dot" that indicates your actual GPS position? Also the command so you don't see a city name listed instead of a street for you next turn. I tried the commands that worked for Mio 3.3 but these don't seem to work with Igo8.

Thanks

thank you for the timezone fix, i came here with that problem as well. That's not my only problem however.

is anyone running this program with pointui??
whenever pointui 1.5a or 1.51a are installed (not even running, simply installed) whenever i try to open this program it hangs for a moment and then exits out without even showing the splash screen. anyone else experience this? could anyone test this by installing pointui just to see i'm an anomaly?

Has anyone got the 3D view to work on the US maps. I have copied the .3dl files to the ..\content\building folder and the NA_usa.dem file to the ...\content\dem folder.

I still cannot see any buildings...

Also what do you have in the ...\content\phoneme folder. Mine is empty.

THanks

I followed the same steps as you, and it did not work for me either.
My Phoneme folder is empty. I am unable to place calls from withing the POI pages, not sure if the empty phoneme folder is the cause, since I have been unable to find what the purpose of the phoneme files are.

I just found out that the phoneme folder is supposed to contain some files related to sound (for TTS). It means that 3D not showing up is not related to the empty phoneme folder

Hmmmm, my phoneme folder is empty, but TTS is working fine. Weird.

PS: I didn't mean that there might be a connection between 3D and the phoneme folder, I was actually curious if the phoneme folder being empty was the cause of me being unable to place calls from with POI (as I was able to do in iGo 2006, I just clicked on the POI phone number, and it would call that POI).

It make senses that you would only see the 3D building if you are in a major city, i'll check that too, thanks for the heads up.

How about the NA_usa.dem file? and does anyone knows where to get the phoneme files for the US?

I have tried both Cincinnati, Ohio, which is a major city, as well as Columbus, Ohio, which is the state capital, and nothing :(

Although to be honest, I don't consider it a huge deal to not have the buildings show, I am much more bothered by the fact that I do not have 3D terrain. The view it shows me is quite similar to that in iGo 2006.

what are you using for the terrain? somewhere on here (either in this thread, the latest igomaps thread, or the igomaps - 8 thread) there is a link posted may 11 with a US terrain map, that is the one i'm using and it's working so far. I live in Indiana so the terrain isn't really hilly or anything, but a good way to check is to go into 2D map view, zoom out a decent amount and see if you can see varying levels of the color green and things. then you can scroll around the state and look for something that looks deep and try to look there in 3d; that's what i've done and its worked, unless thats not what the terrain detail does in which i'm out of luck too :p
