I've stripped down this package just to include the U.K /English parts of the program, I've added the patched data.zip so that I get the correct screen size, everything boots fine , I get the choose English screens then it continues but the it freezes when it gets to
"Initialising warning data " ,that's where it freezes every time. Does this not run on the 4.3" Navigo WS GPS unit, has this been answered in a previous post.Anybody can help please do whether with an answer or a link to the answer , thanks for reading, hope you can help. :D

this happens the first time it starts up as it loads the speedcam data - it takes longer the more speedcam data you have. it can apparently take 10-15 min or even more the first time, but then once it starts up the first time, the next times will be quick.

you must have one of the older versions of the data.zip - this was one of the common problems people complained about with them. use JM's fixed data.zip.

I'm not using the lastest data.zip posted here because I would like to ask some changes to the resolution 320x320 (I own a Samsung i780)!

Currently when using iGO and when a highway exit appears, this is what I get on screen:

Image

Can anyone change it to be like this:

Image

I mean, make the font in the exit signs smaller and place the toolbar on the left side?

I'm asking this because, as you can see at the first image, the highway exit signs occupy more than half of the screen which sucks :?

Can any one tell me if North America Maps version 2008.Q2 works with this release? Currently, I have iGO 8.3.1.57021 (Sep 25) and working fine with it.
Are there any new version of NA maps?

Appreciate your help

Thanks

SecretSquirrel wrote:guys, the slow refresh rate is related to the 'data.zip' file or the skin.

I had the very same slow display problem on my X51v when I first tried the newest R3 release.

Then I updated the 'data.zip' and added the diMka skin, I can't remember which solved the problem.

Try the newest fixed data.zip and then the newest diMka skin, one of them solved my
slow display update rate.

I have the same problem with an HTC Advantage. The screen refreshes at the same time as the GPS position does e.g. every 1-2 secs or so which = jerko-vision. I tried the later data.zips but it had no effect and it was the same with or without a skin. To upgrade from 57021 I simply changed the igo.exe and data.zip files. Are there any other files that are different between the versions? Or doers anyone else have an idea to try?

Thanks

I was wondering if anyone can turn off and on their PPC without loosing IGO8.3?

When I navigate, I often stop at various spots on my way up to my final destination. With other GPS software, I can turn off the PPC without exiting the mapping software and when I am ready to drive to my next stop, I just need to turn on the PPC and wait for the software to find the external Bluetooth GPS. It is very handy not to have to restart the application and re-enter your itinerary. This feature does not work with IGO8.3. I can minimize IGO8.3 and restart it and it will work as long as I do not turn off the PPC. If I turn the PPC off, as soon I turn it back on, the IGO8 word shows instead of the Start menu for few seconds and then the Start menu reappears and the free memory goes from 10MB to 35MB. I have to restart IGO8 to continue to navigate. I tried minimizing IGO8.3 and turning off the PPC and also tried turning off the PPC without exiting IGO8.3. Both tests failed.

Any advice?

Can anyone try the off/on test on their PPC?

My system is IGO8 V8.3.2.64873 with the latest data.zip in 320X240 mode
PPC IPAQ hx2790 running WM6.1
I use TTS and trans_v09B skin. I tried IGO without TTS and skin and it still failed the off/on test.

Thanks for reading

bumpyjuice wrote:Set the backlighting as you want it in the device menu.

Then exit the software and go to WinCE Ctl Panel and click on backlighting. Select "never dim" when power is lost or choose the longest time allowed (like 30 mins).

Then go to the SYSTEM.ini file in the Save Folder of igo8 and set the parameter "Power_mngt_state =2" (from the previous value of zero.

Dont change the device setting again, or you will have to redo all this.

On Win CE 4.2, If i go under Control Panel, Display, and then the Backlight tab, , I have two options....to automatically turn off backlight while on battery power after so many minutes and off backlight when on external power so many minutes. Both these options are unchecked and not turned on. I do not have a "never dim" setting. Again, though, I never had this problem running MioMap 3.2 or 3.3, so I assume the problem lies entirely within IGO 8 given that I had problems with the 8.0 build and now this 8.3.2.

In the system.ini file, I do not have the power_mngt_state listed. What heading does it need to be under and I'll try editing the sys.txt, turning the screen off and back on and see if it still dims.

Alright gotta revert my earlier statement regarding 8.3.2.x
I have the same performance problems as others here with 8.3.2.x both on my Touch HD and X51v. Framerate is horribly slow. Using latest data.zip from LZF.
Can anyone else who is using 8.3.2 please confirm this, or is it just a few of us who got a bad install or bad sys.txt settings?
Can't believe only 3-4 people here are recognizing that slow screen refresh rates while navigating.
Please someone who didn't recognize this yet revert back to 8.3.1 and check if you DO NOT see any difference in performance/FPS when actually navigating.

@ausi

The maps must be new maps.
The Poi are not compatible you must go to http://poi.ashus.net/ and convert your poi from 8.0 to 8.3
