Just search the forum for a different license. It is a known problem. once you find the right one it will work.

Take the license file from the 8.3.1.54384 (Sep 3 2008) version in this thread's opening post.

as for not seeing the exit button in the initial screen, you probably started up in msnd mode. you have to disable this mode to get to the "standard" main screen (which does have an exit button). to do this, add these lines to your sys.txt:

[msnd]
enabled=0

Thanks; I will try that. The last time I installed it, it also gave a fatal error when I clicked on the msnd icon; I am assuming that might also be resolved if I disable msnd

On a related note, would the 2577 folder for 8.3.156007 work for 8.3.2.64873 as well.
thanks

not sure, but you can just use the one included with the 64873 version in the opening post - just download the file linked under "complete navigation software excluding the Content". if i'm not mistaken, that includes the 2577 folder as well

Hi,

I've been using iGO8 version 8.0.0 and 2008.Q1 maps for a while.
I've just tried the new greatest and latest version, which is 8.3.2.**** with 2008.Q2 U.S. maps.
I have failed to see why all the hype and hoopla about this new version unless I am missing something.

The new maps has less detail/coverage than the old maps.
I don't see any 3D stuffs (overpass/underpass).
It has about half the POI as the old maps.
It runs like vista on a 486 chip, on my HTC Touch.

and yet, it generates over 116 pages of forum interests.
What do you guys see in this?

the map coverage has to do with the source of the maps - navteq for the new version (8.3) vs teleatlas for the old version (8.0) - that's a decision of NNG.

regarding 3d, make sure your settings for 3d are correct; then if you don't see anything, that probably just means there's no info coded for the section of map you're viewing (relates to first point above).

as for pois, that's been discussed here - the consensus is that the pois from teleatlas are much more complete. they ARE, however, compatible with the new program version/maps, so you can just install the old (teleatlas) pois with the navteq maps.

regarding the slow refresh rate on your HTC (i assume that's what you mean), that was also discussed here. if i'm not mistaken, the solution was to disable msnd, by adding the following lines to your sys.txt:

[msnd]
enabled=0

if that doesn't work, just read through the thread - there are many HTC users who have posted here with various fixes/sys.txt entries that allowed them to use the program at the proper speed.

Well for some off us its a hobby...I have iGO8 version Sept3 running on my Qtek, I use this one to navigate(this is the version I paid officialy for). Then I have the Nov X version on my omnia...if it does not work 100% so what? Its a hobby...dont take it so serious! If you dont like to experiment or you need a version thats more or less 100% bugg free then stay with the official version (even that one is not 100% bugg free!)

Been checking through the thread, did anyone figure out why the screen stays dim when you turn the GPS off then on in iGO 8? Is this just a Mio C310x issue? My GPS is getting power from the cigarette lighter, when I turn it off then on it remains dim. The only way to go back to full brightness is completely reboot the GPS or to go into the brightness mode and re-adjust it. But everything is maxed out so you move the slider to the left, then BACK to where it was, and it's at full brightness again! Any ideas guys?

I mean arrows at upper left corner. They are named nextarrowcolor, and always black in day schemes.
I don't mean circled arrow. It is circled by alex_navigator to state guidance strip problem. It is solved, as I already said: viewtopic.php?f=255&t=53127&p=304632#p304632
What color is your next arrow colors?
Look at: nextarrow color is still black.

Do you really know, how to change the nextarrowcolor other than black in daytime schemes?
(Look at upper left corner of the screenshot)
I tried to comment in data.zip\ui_igo8\common\day2dcolor.ini and day3dcolor.ini like that:
;nextarrowcolor = 0,16,42,232
;nextarrowcontourcolor = 0,0,0,0

but arrows are still black. Xerses day schemes v8 are also give black, even they declare:

nextarrowcolor = 0,16,42,232
nextarrowcontourcolor = 0,0,0,0

the black arrow you circled IS the guidance strip, NOT the "next arrow". if you want to get it to the original colors (i.e. orange arrow on red route), just delete the "scheme" folder from your contents (or at least default-day.zip). then you'll only be left with the default day and night color schemes in your settings, and the default day scheme is the one with the orange arrow (guidance strip).

There is a lag/delay in 240x400 (Omnia). I am in intersection and on the screen I am at 25-30m before it. In 400x240 is no problem.

Does anyone know if you can force roadnames to display even if they are too long to fit screen?

I like to see the name of the roads preceding a turn but if the name won't fit entirely on
the screen it isn't shown at all. A partial name would still identify the road.

Is there a setting for that?

thanks in advance
