I had the same problem. Try to change the data.zip and the branding.zip files. After changing these files, the problem has disappeared.

@Bundee -

Can you please post a link to the data.zip and branding.zip you are using which corrected the problem? I'd LOVE to fix this issue!!

Thanks!

i am still struggling to use this program, you cant enter a full postcode, therefore if you dont know the street name, the whole program is completely useless

earni what version of the map do you have? you should be able to enter the full postcode, you just leave a gap between the code. I.E SE24 space 1DN it should work.

Make sure you include the space in the middle of the post code - works for me on the UK maps

hi, i had the same problem as you with a Touch HD french version and the only thing i did (except changing the data.zip and branding.zip since it's allready posted that there's a problem with them), i added a line at the top of sys.txt :

[project]
name="igo8_pda"

Everything worked fine after.

Thanks Bundee, but even with these, I still have the off-road lock-up problem. It's strange, it doesn't lock up when going from a real road to off-road, but it does lock up going the opposite way (off-road -> real road)... It seems to happen with or without a route defined.

If anyone has any idea, I'd love to hear them!

Thanks!

That's exactly what I found today. And that explained why I did not notice this serious problem before.

To reproduce this problem, just find a big parking lot and start iGO from there. If iGO 8 shows you are not on any road (even if you select the option "Keep position on road"), then you can drive or walk towards to a road. You will see the lock up.

However, if you start from (or near) a real road, then drive to the same parking lot, then leave, you will not experience the problem.

I wish it's just a data.zip problem. But I am afraid it is not. I was so frustrated in last two days and I am ready to switch to another navigation software. At least now we know we can start iGO on or near a road to avoid this problem.

J_Walker wrote:I've been running the Jan 7 version on my Mio C320. Everything seems to work fine, except sometimes when resuming from standby, iGo will just restart itself. Has anybody found a definitive fix for this? Right now I have it running entirely from the internal flash memory and it has the same problem. I had it running with the app in internal memory and content on the SD card and it had the exact same restart problem (just igo restarting, not the device itself). Before that, I had the entire app/content running from the SD card and sometimes when resuming from standby, the device itself would restart.

I have the same problem with my C230 - so perhaps there is a linkage between similar Mio units. No problems whatsoever with 8.3.2.64873, but when I swapped in the 8.3.2.71348, I get system resets after not using my GPS for a long time upon wake-up. Since not more people are reporting this, there must be something to the Mio link, but I don't know what it might be. I suspected it has something to do with the "GPS Signal Lost" sound clip that seems like it would play right when the software resets itself. Once the reset is finished, everything else works like a charm - but I would like to get to the bottom of this reset issue, especially if it only affects a small number of us and may never be solved in future versions (hopefully it will). In the mean time, it is back to the Nov 13 version for me.

Edit: Now that I think about it, there is a good chance it has to do with memory capabilities of our devices (60 MB for me), if in the wake-up phase a lot is happening like finding a signal, any audio, and perhaps a change into night/day mode. Weird that this bug never happened until this specific version though.
