Yes, you can use POIs from 2008.1 North America content. They are all compatible

I am not able to use POI's from 2008.1, they do not show up at all in iGO8 v8.3

JM : Great work on the release. I'm using it with the latest 8.3 USA content posted elsewhere.

First off, the reset after exit/resume is a big annoyance and is pretty much a non-starter issue for me. Unless that is fixed, there is no hope that I will use this version.

Second, the POI database is just way too small. It is missing most locations around here, including my local bank branch (which was in the 2008.1 maps). I tried using the 2008.1 POI database, but it just didn't work.

Thirdly, I'm not sure the routing is any better with NavTeq maps than with the Teleatlas. In fact, there seems to be a propensity for the NavTeq maps to take me to the interstates rather than the back roads. I had to force this version to create a route that the previous 8.0.0.54000 with 2008.1 USA maps created without manipulation. I also noted that my home address is now further down the street with these maps, rather than dead on with the 2008.1 maps.

I will try this on the road tomorrow, but issues 1 and 2 above do not make this version look promising, although I do like that the major highway names are back instead of just numbers.

I confirm this disappearance of streets, I found the same problem with:

My research was limited to France, (nonexhaustive research), this problem seems to be specific to the East of France.

Hi Kram, thanks for replying and letting me know that the UK TMC issue is mine rather than Igo 8.3.1's I had to DL a different license to Jetmouses' as his wouldn't work with my PDA (Ipaq hx2790). I have the Abis PNA EEU@0807 license. I'll try DLing JM's latest creation and see if I have better luck with that. Gotta have TMC!
