However, I think I have narrowed down the problem a little... I've found that the lockup only seems to occur ONLY if your device obtains a GPS signal while in the "off-road" area. If you already have a GPS signal when you reach the off-road location, the lock-up does NOT occur, even when going from the off-road position back to the road again.

However, if you turn your device on while at the off-road location, wait to obtain a GPS signal and then drive close enough to a road that iGo thinks you are on the road, that is when the lockup occurs.

It would be great if someone can confirm this now that I have more specifics as to EXACTLY when/how it happens!

I can confirm that this also happens with the UK TeleAtlas map.

In most instances it will just lock-up but occasionally I get this error message:

Fatal Error
File I/O Error: map\Basemap.fbl(0,0/57428)

I have checked the basemap file and it is not corrupted, the error is solely due to starting off-road.

After a long time I've got some free time today and I decided to play around a bit with the latest iGO8 v8.3.2.74290, version that so many of you have asked for and look what I have come up with



Yes, you see it right! I managed to get it work with the old good Worldwide Generic license supporting all devices, all maps and even TMC Pro service in certain European countries Next step would be maybe a complete license generator (if I find some time in the future), that will generate such a worldwide licenses working with all future iGO releases using current license algo without touching the executable itself. Since I have publicly stepped back from patching I will not post it here or share my patch with anyone, so please do not PM me about releasing this patch or giving it for testing. However, I will share my findings with SkyRocker, and if he decides to publish it here, it's just up to him...

do some forum searching for sys.txt entries. you should be able to find the correct settings quite easily -- a lot of folks own the ipaq series. if it doesn't detect the GPS by default (or with a skin such as diMka) then you'll have to specify them manually in sys.txt.

Hello,
I installed the 8.3.2.XX version and i have a strange problem. When ever i am in a text input field it keeps on adding a junk character(a rectangle box) and an input sound(just like when you tap on keyboard) every 2-3 seconds. so i couldnt enter any address/number correctly as its all had a box in between the letters. I tried all exes and data.zip and different zip but no help. The navigation works great but no TTS. i was using the 8.0 version on the same PNA with TTS without any issues.

can some body help me with this pls.... Plsssssssssssssssss
