I did not have time to look at them yet, since I am busy with eliminating other protections that have left,
so if anyone finds out how to read them, that would just speeds things up 8)

I'm sorry to tell that this seems to be possible by you or some other cracker with access to the binary only...

These files do not contain any known magic bytes to clearify the file type, nor are there any (un-encrypted) file names - it seems there is some (likely poor) decryption of these files inside iGO itself.

Maybe you find this algorithm to provide some decryption engine?!

BTW: Are there any more GRO files to inspect? Are they used for languages and voices, too?

At this point I would not spend too much time with it, as AMIGO is only the poor small brother of iGO - but they will probably use this format for future iGO versions as well!
It would be interesting to know whether old build would also read GRO files and newer builds accept ZIPs for Data/Branding/Skin?

GRO files? Another puzzle then. What was navngo thinking? The "open" DATA.ZIP structure made iGo big. Somehow someone will find the key to the GRO files anyway. A quick look shows the first 8 bytes are identical. Since they show no strings they are encrypted or hashed.

Good luck to JM to crack the code. I hope you get it before the russians do :D

May the best one win...

So, time for a stupid question now ;-)

Ive installed version 8.3.2 on my PDA and everything is working perfect. But I was looking for new map files. There are a lot of difference between the real world and my IGO map files.
Now ive seen that there are new map files for version 8.0.0 (Mar 2009)

Now is my question, is this version (see: viewtopic.php?f=256&t=60769) a verry old version of IGO, or a completly different serie.
And in both cases, does anybody know the most important difference(s)? (I know that igo has no 'history' of 'release notes')

Thanks in advance for the ansers and sorry for my perfect (...) English

Original from Naviextras:
iGO amigo is not the next version for iGO 8. It is a different product, with different features and user interface.

Thank god for this, so i would not spent to much effort to crack the data.zip of this software.

Is there a way to get a COMPLETE (german) package of the latest iGO 8 R3 for PDA (HTC Touch Diamond)? Installable, patched and with working TTS? Many links are dead and I'm getting confused about the different versions, threads ans cross-thread-links.

Thanks for your help,

I started such questions some months ago - and the most important (user) enhancements seem to be:
  • Signpost-Laneinfos
  • Automatic shutdown when AC power is disconnected

I am using MIO C320 with iGO v8.3.2.71348 (Jan 7 2009).
From time to time (not always) when I switch the power ON,
the device executing soft reset (it did not occur with the previous version - iGO8 v8.0.0.71609 R1 (Jan 8 2009)).
How can I fix it?
