I'm sooooo frustrated with this stuff...I can't figure how to get start with the installation after i've copied my file to the HTC Pro. ...And yes i did extract the rar file first.

PLEASE!!!!!!!

CAN SOMEBODY HELP ME...LOL

I would like a step by step instruction on what to do without 300+ pages. I feel like there should be a reference book or something????

Thanks,
NEWBIE

PS: I even tried installing other gps files and no luck there either. It seems the only thing i'm good at installing is cab files for my phone (games). Once again....PLEASE help somebody....I feel like I'm going NUTS here...lol!??

First of all - You don't have to "install" iGO8 in order to run it !
You can launch it directly from the "iGO8.exe" file on your SD-Card, or create a shortcut to it manually.

Here are the steps for iGO8 (PNA) installation:
  1. Download the release from THIS post.
  2. Extract from there the "2577" folder, and put it in the same directory you had put "iGO8" folder (not inside "iGO8" folder).
  3. Rename the "iGO8.exe" file inside the "iGO8" folder to "application.dat" (make sure that you are changing the file extension, otherwise you will get "application.dat.exe").
  4. Now run the "Autorun.exe" file inside the "2577" folder.
  5. Wait for installation to be completed. Now you have iGO8 installed on your device and also a shortcut on your "Today" screen.

How can there be a difference of more than 10,000 in the both build numbers, if they were built on the same day ?
Even when iGO Amigo came out, its build number continued iGO8 R3 with a difference that reflected time logically.

From you picture resides that the new version is 8.3.3.102379 ..... so ..... !?
About the numbering from NNG I can't say anything :? .... anyway they have a sense in numbering the versions :? 8)

Perhaps different builds for different OEMs, but with the same release date ? Why not ?

All I was saying, is that so far Nav N Go's build numbers where always very consistent and reflected reasonably the time gaps between them, even across many different revision of iGO8 (R1 - v8.0.x.x, R2 - v8.2.0.x, R3 - v8.3.1.x, v8.3.2.x, R4 - v8.4.2.x), as can most of them be seen in THAT post.
It was just a comment.

LOL... me either. With a little photoshop I can make it say any version I want to as well

Perhaps I will do that. Maybe make a version Igo8.4.4_10345 or something. Oh... maybe even change the release date to something like November 5 2010 or something.

For kicks here is my fake version.....

This isn't a real version, I don't want to confuse anyone.

I am also having having this problem, never had it before. I am also using the April data.zip

Any ideas
Geoff

Unfortunately, this was my main hope for this new version. Not reseting when power source switches off or it is removed. :( But I want to point that I have this problem even with the April version! So it is not a new problem. I have an Asus R300 PNA with Miopocket on it and IGO8 April version and when I stop the car's engine -so,implicitly, the power source stops- the PNA resets. Any ideas?

The problem may be caused by newer versions of Miopocket or the combination of Miopocket+Igo8 in new versions. I tried different versions of Igo8 8.3.x till the september version and Igo8 .8.0.x and the problem is the same. I tested even Amigo, and it stil resets, but it resets only the Amigo software, not the whole Miopocket. Then I tested the 27 release of Miopocket and the reset is gone! But I did not test the 27 release on a car, I tested it by removing the USB cable from PC. This caused the software to stop connecting to the SD card till I removed it and put it back in slot. It saw it again, but the taskbar from the bottom disappeared and the standby button didn't react. So it is not a solution for the problem.
Anyone else using Igo8 and Miopocket from a SD card have the same problem?

Try with this into your sys.txt:

[interface]
shutdown_time=10
exit_on_restart=0

No, unfortunately it doesn't solve the problem. :(

Hi,

How can I make Igo8 ask automatically for a new Route calculation METHOD (fast, short economical, easy) everytime before recalculating a new route?

Thank you

Sure... I always do that directly through sys.txt with these lines....

Code: Select all.....
[ i n t e r f a c e ]

m a x z o o m 2 d = 6 0 0 0 0 0 0
s h o w _ e x i t = 1
r e s o l u t i o n _ d i r = " 8 0 0 _ 4 8 0 "
v g a = 0

[ r a w d i s p l a y ]

c l a s s = " a u t o "
h i g h r e s = 0
s c r e e n _ x = 8 0 0

.....

You wouldn't need photoshop at all - just make up your own skin or modify DATA.ZIP to display whatever you want on this screen...

Hi all!

I'm just trying to install the latest version on my HTC Tytn II - i've copied everything from the .rar file to my SD Card into Program Files/iGO folder, and when started the iGO.exe to install the program, got the following message - "Error - Program application database cannot be found. Please insert original application SD card."

Um?

This is pretty urgent!

Thanks in advance!

edit - i followed these instructions -

If you got this popup message when you trying to starting up the program from the very first time: Program application database cannot be found !!

Solution is:

[folders]
#app="%SDCARD%/iGO"

Then remove the Save Folder from the iGO map on your SD Card!!

BrGd

I've added "#" mark in front of the app="%SDCARD%/iGO" line, but when i start the iGO.exe, "save" directory keeps recreating it self.

I got the message - "The application failed to start last time. Do you want to reset to factory defaults and lose all your POIs, tracks and settings?"

I've chosen both YES and NO.

Either way, i get the following message - "Initalization error: no language files were found"

Hm, hm, hm...

HELP!
