Thank you for your help, but unfortunately that didn´t solve my problem. I still need to have backlight always on and to make a soft-reset everytime I want to use IGO.

If you have other suggestions please let me know.

im very new to IGO8 what i would like to know is will the latest version (or any version) work on my generic CE 4.2 device which has a 7" screen and a resolution of 480x234, thanks in advance.

Definitely, iGO8 version 8.3.2.xxxx onward will not work on WinCE 4.2 device.

Hmm, I can not say this. Maybe you have some problems with yours.

But, I could say that is working on Win CE 4.2, like is working on Win 5.
On PDA 320x240 Win CE4.2 , tested and working
On 2DIN 480x234 Win 5.0, tested and working.
This is my Igo8.3_91972. http://www.filefactory.com/file/ag36057 ... _91972_rar which is working in both Win versions.
You have to modify resolution, specific to your device and according with resolutions included in data.zip and branding.zip and not in the last time, to input in Igo8.3 => Content => DEM folder, the dem file, according with your zone you are using the GPS device.

I have a generic 7" gps unit DVD etc from china with a screen of 840x234

Mine has a file in the main sd card called YFAUTORUN.INF which must point to the gps prog ie:

:\sdmmc\iGO8\iGO8.exe

then make sure your SYS.txt file starts with :

app="%SDCARD%/iGO8"

[interface]
skin="ui_igo8"
resolution_dir="480_234"
vga=0

[rawdisplay]
class="landscape"
screen_x=480
screen_y=234

what license do you use?

Just thought I'd post up we have 8.3.91972 with TMC and TTS working on a 16GB Samsung Omnia i900 running the T-Mobile BOHH5 firmware. It took some extra work and software but all seems good so far. Thanks to everyone that makes this possible.

Update: Had to deselect the tts voices as this caused major slowdown and crashes. Not sure how TTS works in iGo but when it did work it didn't say anything different.....am I missing something?

Anyone also have problems with the hardware volume keys on HTC Touch HD (Blackstone)?

They don't work in iGO (v8.3.2.91972 with data.zip 10b from here)

1. on my c720 the redraw is very slow. the biggest problem is in 3d mode. the whole screen would get green and gradually clear in layerd way and so on. this seems to be problem with 8.3 for me.

2. how do you get the sign posts to be green
3. is the dem file for usa a single file about 200 megs

i now have the may release, it does not search my pois!!!. i have a kml that i made when i was using the nov08 release. i know i can convert it to upoi but that is not the solution!!! upoi do not display the address, it sucks.Soo. i have my kml in userdata/poi... it is displayd in the poi manager and in the find poi menu. BUT when i type the letters in the search menu it does not show the POIS in the KML. what is the solution?!?! PLEASE HELP

Have you tried Ashus poi editor. This will convert kml or csv to upoi. Mine show address fine. If you open user.upoi with notepad you will see the various fields

Manage poi only allows you to set visability or change icon so try going to Find - Find POI - arround address - choose city - choose city centre and all in Current category then you can search by name. A long way round I know but at least it works.
