I have a Mio C510E. I use iGo v8.3.4.102680 (Aug 13 2009) with last Gurjon's skin running both the app and the maps from the storage card.
My question is: this is the best or is preferred to put the application directly in the flash disk?
:D

I have with my Mio Moov (miopocket r53) on the sd-card (sandisk 16gb) a full igo 8.3.2.93xxx (dimka skin) and content
this did give sometime's the error could not find sky1.bmp (scheme related) when i turned on device with igo running.
also have problems with the Tmc not working and then need to restart igo.
this did came from the slow start of the sd-card.

Now i have the iGo v8.3.4.102680 (dimka skin) version installed in the Flash memory ( in map iGO834 )
with the content (maps, poi) in the old content folder on the sd-card (the complete old version is still on it and ready to run)
without need to adjust the sys.txt the new version did find the old contect on the sd-card (in map iGO8) by itself.
have now no more error's when start the device only sometime's need to start Tmc manual.

So for me it's better to run from Flash.

booce wrote:Seems like a good time to post the latest Booce UK Special. This package is the complete Igo 8 program with content for the UK.

Remember, all the software in this package was provided by other users of this fabulous forum, I just package it up and make sure it works.

Included this time:
Igo 8.3.4.102680 With Driver Assist tested and working when using the GJ 6.12p_da skin
Navteq UK maps 2009 Q1 (090608) (Teleatlas not used as Driver Assist does not work with them)
Basemap 2009.03
TTS with UK Voices Low Quality (works on my WM 5.0 Ipaq hx2790 with 64MB RAM)
Speedcameras from 23-09-09 for the EU
TMC tested and working
UK DEM file
UK Buildings
GJ 6.12 skin
Dimka 1.1.19A Tomsoft skin
Ultra 6.0.22 skin
UK Branding so Petrol stations etc show the logo of the company that owns them.
Customised Sys.txt includes modifications for smooth TTS, disabling the roundabout view, accepting the EULA automatically etc
"Deluxe" Tele Atlas POI for UK checked for positional accuracy
Assorted Colour schemes
Auto install

This release is the PNA/PDA version of Igo 8 and I have tested it on several different devices including HX2790 and HX4700. It is inteded for UK users as all the content and regional options are UK only.

The Driver Assist function in this release will only work if you use the GJ skin as the data.zip included is not the 8.3.4 release version, it is the 10b data.zip found on this site. It supports an awful lot of resolutions whereas the new data.zip has very limited resolution support.

If you can get over 37MB free RAM on your device, this will work with TTS on a PDA.
As far as I can tell, this has all the latest versions of everything I can find for Igo.
Extract the package to your SD card and pop it in your device. It should auto install Igo for you and you'll be good to go.

Password is booce

Note that you need to download BOTH files to get the complete package.

Thanks for the above :)

Have you got any idea as to why I get this message when trying to launch it...

I can just ignore the error but I'm not sure what it means..?

Hi Vimes, I've never seen that particular error, but it looks like something to do with MSN. Sorry, I can't really help, maybe one of the other wizards round here has seen it before.

As far as I know, the histspeed is working with the GJ skin in my release, but I'm sure wiser minds will let us know if it doesn't.

Booce.

Thanks booce.

When I use the std skin all is well. When I use the GJ skin (which I replaced with no change, I till get that message each and every time) it still happens. I assume it is a problem with that skin.

Previous to trying your pack, thanks again, I never had a problem when using that skin.

You could try to put this in your active sys.txt:

[msnd]
enabled=0

However no idea if that may help.

Booce.

Is it possibly because you have not included all of GJ's EXTENSIONs in your download. I assume not as you have tested it, :D but just a thought.
Re. Histspeed, thanks for the answer, I'll try to do some research to find out. I'm not certain how though.

You have to put scheme zip files in a scheme folder you will create:
igo8/content/scheme

Be sure you also have a GFX folder in the main directory of igo...

Thanks for the suggestions regarding that error message. I found the issue...

I used the original data.zip with the August release and I no longer get that error message when using the GJ skin and my PNA @ 480x272. The issue seems to be related to the data.zip that booce used with that package, but only when combined with the GJ skin.

I did try removing and applying the extensions which had no effect.

I would like to know the same, I am also going to upgrade to the HTC HD2, with a digital/hardware compass, and I am wondering if iGO8 or iGO Amigo support it? I can't find anything about this on Google...

OK everyone I've been searching for two things with iGo8 that I haven't been able to find.

1) How to cancel a route and just go back to the live moving map?

2) How to enter rural route addresses in the US?

Thanks for the help,

To cancel route:

If you ar enot using any skin, go to Navigation Menu, Go to route option and selcet the Delete Route option. This will delete the present route.

From the main map page, press Menu. Then in the main Navigation Menu page, press the Route button. At the bottom of the Route Menu page, press the Delete Route button. Answer Yes and click the left arrow to get back to the main Navigaton Menu page. Then click the Map button at the left corner to go back to the live map page.

2) How to enter rural route addresses in the US?
While I don't really know how to enter a rural route, I will give you two possible answers:

a. Use coordinates; or
b Use intersections.

Coordinates can easily be found from almost any map page like Yahoo or Google Maps. Usually I use Yahoo because it is easier IMHO. You can begin with your zip code and position your cursor over your location and zoom it up so you can recognize the street or location you want to go to. Then right-click over your destination or start point. Yahoo Maps will define this location in the upper left box. You would then go to the Navigation Menu and click the Find button. Then click the Find Coordinates button and use its display to enter the coordinates as Yahoo displays them. Alternatively, you can do the same thing using iGO8 by using the Find Menu and the Plan on Map button (on lower right) to place your cursor over a desired location and setting this as your Destination (using the Add Start or Destination upper buttons) but I find using coordinates easier.

The intersection method is a little faster but not as accurate because you are using the intersection of city or county blocks versus a defined set of coordinates or street address. Going to the Find Menu, you click Find Address and enter a zip code (if the correct location is not already displayed) and Street Name. When the proper street has been chosen, you should be at the Find Address menu screen with iGO8 waiting for you to either enter a House Number, Street Midpoint or Intersection.

Hope this helps!
