Guys: The problem I'm having seems easily solvable, yet I can't find anyone to help. I want my (Chinese brand) iGO 8.3 (Nov 3 2009) unit to power down to sleep when I turn off the ignition. It used to do this until I updated the latest iGO version and Telstra maps (R17). No matter what I try, I don't seem to be able to succeed. I'm using the default skin as always which I prefer. Someone suggested changing config file but I can't get to that via USB. Here's my current sys file:

OK - wouldn't work at first. I then went into CE6.0 system, power and changed battery power settings to power down in 1 minute. Added your line into interface and restarted. It worked. Went back in to check CE6 power settings again and they had reverted to 'never". Hmmm?? Changed your line shutdown_time=10 for 10 seconds to give option to cancel and bingo -still works. What happened ..... I have no idea but we're good. Ya da man. Thanks heaps for your help Bazzle.

IGO v8.3.4.117940 (Nov 3 2009)



My GPS unit (Mio Moov 330) WAS NOT able to find a GPS signal after moving the OFF/ON switch on top of the GPS module.

Ok, i have discovered how to have ALWAYS a GPS receiver with this device when setting it ON/ OFF/ON.


When you use this IGO 8.3.4 application for the first time and there is a valid GPS receiver, go on...
Before you want to powerdown the GPS, do the following steps:

1) click with your finger or pencil in the right corner of the igo 8.3.4 screen ---> when the Screen is minimized it's OK
2) switch OFF GPS (button GPS outside)
3) switch ON GPS (when you want to use this IGO again)
4) launch IGO AGAIN.

I have now ALWAYS a valid GPS signal! VERRY SIMPLE!


Is it possible to add code in sys.txt so that the device is minimizing when powering off the GPS?
With automatic reboot of IGO

In Igo 8.0 there was somewhere a "minimizing " modus to have always a GPS receiver. ---> AUTOMATICALLY after shutdown the GPS module.

In Igo 8.x (x = higher) the "minimizing" modus is missing, so the GPS signal is lost after the device is OFF....

How to enable this modus back in Igo 8.3.4 ? (without the steps in my previous post)

need help please. i have over the past week and half read all 499 pages of this topic. i have a navigon 7200t in usa. 64mb ram 480 x 272 res.
wince 5.0. i have had all kinds of errors along the way trying to get igo8 to run. i have made multiple changes to my sys.txt file as i found the info i thought would work. here is my sys.txt can someone look at it tell me what is wrong or what i need to add change. im using a simple unlock for the 7200t. i created a shortcut to desktop. when i double click on that all i get is igo my way splash screen. im using the june 25th version with NA Q2 2009 Navteq maps and all content. your help would greatly appreciated.

Are 'Storage Card' and %SDCARD% interchangeable? Your post implies not.
Have you realy got a Program Files folder on your SD Card? and surely, if you have, the ap will be in "%SDCARD%/Program Files/iGO8 or Storage card/Program Files/igo8 not in Storage card/igo8?
Or perhaps I am talking out of my ***

no i did not have a program folder on my card so i changed my sys.txt like this

but now i get application data base cannot be found and also it creates a duplicate igo8 folder but whn i try to open it it says it maybe on another drive or net work. im sorry i am at a loss with this stuff i really tried to get it. its not like i havent read or searched the forum before asking for help. so please help.

It sounds like Igo cannot find the DATA.zip file. Is this in the same location as Igo8.exe. Is all the Content, Audio,Licence etc. on your SD card or in the main memory of the device?
There is a diagram somewhere in this rather long topic that shows what should go where. I can't find it by search, and don't have time to look for it amongst the 499 pages either .
Perhaps someone who knows where it is will come along and point you to it.

You can share content folder iGO/AmiGo but you need use specific hierarchy from AmiGO...
