Ok, I tried this but I only get the street names showing up written on the streets themselves when I am sliding my finger and moving the map; not when I am driving?

My GPS unit (Mio Moov 330) WAS NOT able to find a GPS signal after moving the OFF/ON switch on top of the GPS module.

Ok, i have discovered how to have ALWAYS a GPS receiver with this device when setting it ON/ OFF/ON.

When you use this IGO 8.3.4 application for the first time and there is a valid GPS receiver, go on...
Before you want to powerdown the GPS, do the following steps:

( step by step instructions for miopocket 3 )

Legal download link for miopocket 3: http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topi ... _ID=126303

1) click with your finger or pencil in the right corner of the igo 8.3.4 screen ---> when the Screen is minimized it's OK
2) switch OFF GPS (button GPS outside)
3) switch ON GPS (when you want to use this IGO again)
4) launch IGO AGAIN.

I have now ALWAYS a valid GPS signal! VERRY SIMPLE!

Is it possible to add code in sys.txt so that the device is minimizing when powering off the GPS?
With automatic reboot of IGO

Thank you in advance!

I will hope that much people can use this advice for always having a good GPS receiver!

This is very annoying problem, can you tell me what older version of iGo to use to avoid this problem with GPS signal lost after I put my device to hibernate for a few minutes?

That´s impossible because the iGO8 is sleeping. But this could be implemented in the firmware for the PNA.

Hey Kribe - thnx for the info. I have a chinese unit so how do I actually get into the "firmware" and what would need changing? I know how to access the CE6 system on the GPS unit and get to some files & control panel, but also can't read it via USB to my laptop or PC cos of some driver/connection problem? This is not life-saving stuff, but it would be nice to have it perform how I want it to! Ta.

@adamgosp

I agree with kribe.

My Chinese 2Din unit (RoadKing), in the "NaviSettings" where you set the path to iGO8.exe file, there is a tick box to "Auto run navigator application". Have you checked your unit to see if similar choice is available? Works fine on mine when you switch the ignition on.

Cheers

Does anyone have "Create NMEA/Sirf Log" working on iGO 8.3.2.64873?

>> Settings | Track Logs | Create NMEA/Sirf Log

It should save a file like the below but appears to have stopped working?

>> \storage card\gpslog\log_2008-12-27_04-40-35.bin

I know I can save the regular tracks and convert to gpx/kml using GPSBabel but they do not include altitude and some other track details.

Any suggestions?
Thanks, JD.

Hi!

Here is your answer. Better later than never!

Just edit the SYS.TXT file:

[gps]
log_base_dir="storage card/"
protocol="nmea" or protocol="sirf" depends on which gps receiver you have

thats it! i hope it helps!
cheers

in my case the save folder in my "STORAGE CARD" was corrupted.
Removed it, created a new one and now everything works fine.
Thank you all anyway.

Problem seems to be in mio moov devices, maybe I can change something in registry (but I don't know what). I have other pna device and iGo there finds gps reciver after hibernation.

It all works fine on Mio Moov devices, but you must put iGo on Flash Disk instead on Storage card (you can still keep maps etc on storage card - i.e. CONTENT folder is on storage card, everything else on flash disk and just change sys.txt to point to maps on storage card)

Mihai959,

I have give a link from where you could get a KIT for igo8 at resolution 480x800, or 800x480. Now i see you are asking again about the same thing, even now is in the right section. :wink:

I did it but it is happening the same, after hibernation iGO can't turn on the GPS reciver, it says that it can't be detected.

This is what I've edited in sys.txt

[folders]
app="My Flash Disk/iGO8"
content="%SDCARD%/iGO8/CONTENT"

It is intresting that I can use hibernation only with it's default program MioMap 2008, but after the iGO goes to hibernation even it's default program can't find GPS reciver.

All other programs that I've tried have the same problem with hibernation: iGO8.3, Amigo and Mireo.

That is strange, I tested on friend's moov 330, my moov 360 and I just installed another moov M400 and they never had those problems.... Only If I put iGo on storage card, it would crash, restart igo or reboot moov.

i did tryed the link but like all others didn't load dimka skins, first link was incomplete, second one was good
or what i should change in sys.txt, system.ini to work
i alredy had an igo for the resolution my question was 8.3.4 with dimka working skins(i belive sys.txt is the problem but cant find what to add there to work with skins)

On MioMoov devices after starting miomap2008 or clones (despite the software it is original or not) and stopping it, a RAM resident application CLMapp.exe is staying active blocking the GPS access for any software accessed after.
Just kill this TSR. Best of all start mioamp or clones with an script which after the miomap is stopped it kills this process.

I don't have that process active, maybe I need some other process to be active?
