rub73 wrote:Well, thanks for the answer. Actually I was not asking what a phoneme was linguistically speaking. I just wanted to know why we needed the phonemes for. As I can understand, it is just to have a certain twain (accent) in the voices at a certain region of a country. Is that correct?

By the way, I place the phoneme files at “content/phoneme”, but when I check the content in “amigo”, all the phonemes are in red, meaning there's an error. Could you please tell me what's wrong?

regards, and thanks for your before fast and appreciated answer

Correct. It is like you are in Texas US, then phoneme will give you some kind o texan accent.

Most probably you need a licence for phoneme.
Look at page 1 of this topic. There is a link there to get the licence.

You can still download the Amigo software (on the first page of this topic) as those links are still alive. There are also working links at http://diimaps.webs.com/igo84amigosoftmaps.htm

It is the links to the "License__Poi_Enabler.rar" which are dead.

I've found a link to the POI enabler (put it in the save folder) only at http://www.filefactory.com/file/agfae50/n/poi_viscar_txt%20, however, I'm still confused with regards to the phoneme licence file which was apparently in the *.rar file mentioned above.

Can somebody crarify if the phoneme files need a licence or not? If yes, could they please post a link.

Thanks

Im asking because if I have a *.ph file in the contents/phoneme folder, the settings show them in red and say 'general error'. If I only have the *.phr files in the contents/phoneme folder then the settings option for the phoneme dissapears.

I'm running the latest Amigo v8.4.2.95590 with the Ultra skin on a Navigon 2310.

Thanks....

OK. I've managed to establish that if you put the Maestro_PNA_NA@08Q2_(NQ)_2008-08-22.lic in the license folder, then the previously red *ph phoneme files will turn green, therefore this must be the licence file for the *.ph files.

Does anyone know if the teleatlas *phr phoneme files need a licence and which one it is? Should these phoneme files appear in the Settings, Content, Phoneme tab?

Device restart: fixed the problem

The program will start in the storage card rather than the device's internal storage.

That's all! 8)

Hi all,

I'm experiencing a problem with my Igo Amigo 8.4.2...., My device is the htc touch diamond2, or Topaz. Until yesterday my OS was WM 6.1, and I had installed the igo amigo working normally. After I install the windows mobile 6.5 and reintalled the igo it continue to work normally but the TTS voice stop working. The other voices present still work, just the TTS voice that tells the street's name stop working. Why? is that because I install the wm 6.5 or I did something in the system.ini? because i just copy the folder from my computer like i use to did after.
Thanks

I have explained this previously on this link:
viewtopic.php?f=255&t=63511&start=1890&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=stutter

I discovered what makes Amigo stutter a lot, and what makes it somewhat apparently lose the GPS signal. It is when you make amigo perform a lookup on the TTS lex file. So if you use a zero-byte lex (EnglishUS6.9.lex) file combined with these voices, amigo runs flawlessly:
