Hello,

I need some help installing this baby. I have a new HTC Hero (Canada version) but I could not make it work. Here is what I did:

1) Downloaded the iGOMyWay_8.4.2.124036_JM-PPCW.zip, unzipped and installed the *.apk file using HTC sync.
2) Complete installation process in HTC Hero. At that point everything looks smooth! Have the iGo icon up in the apps list.
3) Copy the " content' and "license" folders from the downloaded *.zip into the SD card's root as instructed.
3) Open iGO and got this: "Please insert your SD Card containing IGO contant files". Booted back on HTC Home screen.

Would appreciated a step-by-step installation process since I am quite new with android and my "Hero".

** I noticed there is no IGO folder created in the SD Card during installation. Is it normal?

Thanks

Alright I finally able to make it work. Here is what I did:

1) Do the step 1 and 2 above.
2) Since installation process didn't create an iGO folder in the SD Card automatically you have to do it yourself (pull down Notification screen of your Hero and select "USB connected" to mount the SD Card - Go to PC's Windows Explorer - Select the HTC's drive - create the iGO folder).
3) Put the "license" and "content" folders from downloaded iGOMyWay_8.4.2.124036_JM-PPCW.zip in iGO folder (NOT ROOT).
4) Put the map needed downloaded from http://forum.ppcwarez.org/viewtopic.php?f=256&t=79774 (I am from North America) in the "map" subfolder of "content".
5) Start iGO and you are done.

*** Everything looks nice in Hero (firmware 1.5) but a little slow. Would love to try Copilot to see the difference.

Cheers!

Be sure to have your GPS enable: Settings - Location - Tick "Enable GPS Satellites". Don't use the "Wireless Networks" to get your position. First time I tried getting my position with my Hero, Wireless Networks was enable instead of GPS Satellites and my position was off 4-5 km away.

If you already have GPS Satellites enable ensure that you can have a position with it by using an application like "Google maps" and try to get your location. If you didn't enable "Wireless Network" in Settings and you do not get a position, you might have a problem with your internal GPS. Return your phone if still under guarantee. Otherwise, the problem is with iGO. But technically speaking if you can get a position with another application than iGO you should be able to one with it.

Any apps (you can try the app "GPS Status". You can download it from Android Market) would do the job as long as you can see the coordinates. I would sugggest you disable the "Wireless Network" (Settings - Location - Untick "Wireless Network") if you want to test your build-in GPS. Ensure that you test your GPS in an open area. Sometime GPS cannot have a good reading simply because of tall buildings (downtown area), inside a building or basement, tick forest canopy, etc.

So ensure the followings for your phone's GPS testing:
1) Disable "Wireless Network" positionning
2) Enable "GPS Satellite"
3) Open area

If you cannot get a signal right away: wait 2-5min.
Still don't get a signal? Your build-in GPS is defective.

I have a question... Why it is slow, on HTC Magic? I read that all people reproduce my problem.

It is very slow.... for example:
1. When i start the vocal guidance, she says every word with pauses: In ..... One... Hundred.... meters... turn... left.
2. When i tap the screen to search/find/set, it is slow.

Is it a NNG problem, or a telephone problem?
