ok thats 2 NT map releases or R3 that just plain suck. they're smaller, less POI, the road names are ALL f'd up between highways/real road names, and there's like 1/10th the road signs. I'm officially DONE with NT unless they go exclusive to R3. The TA maps NEVER let me down and are 1000x more descriptive.

Except when they don't let you search for addresses that are on MAJOR highways like the 10/08 TA maps do for NJ and other states. While I like TA for certain things, its latest release has been very disappointing for many of us without this very basic feature. Glad there is a more up-to-date NT map now, so it should hold us over until a fix is out for TA maps in future iterations.

Hello. I want to use both 2008.10 TeleAtlas + 2008Q4 NAVTEQ North America maps for iGO. Can I mix them up and put it in maps folder to use? Will one conflict the other?

When I put it in maps folder, I have to rename the second file? OR let windows make New_York(2).flb? Same goes for POI and Building files? Thanks

you can't use 2 maps of the same country at the same time. Igo will choose one, usually the newest. I suggest you put the TA and NT maps in different folders (e.g. maps and maps2) and rename the folders when you want to change supplier. The same goes for POI.

You can put both or more POI and building files in folder. They only must have different names (f.e. new_york_TA. poi, new_york_NQ.poi).

yeah , but what would happen if both POIs have the same stuff (sure there are some duplicates), would it show it twice on the map?
or the NNG program is smart enough showing only one?

Same problem with US Highway / Route 1. All POI listed as US Highway 1. Yet there is no road searchable with name US, 1 or Highway.

I'm trying out both TeleAtlas and Navteq maps. For some reason or another, when I have TeleAtlas and I search for my home street, as soon as I enter the city name, it doesn't prompt to type in the complete street name...it only shows me 2 hard coded street names. But when I use Navteq maps, I get prompted to type in exactly the street names. I thought it would be the other way around since I see that the TeleAtlas maps are bigger in size than the Navteq maps.

I have better search result with NT as well. Not sure if the problem for TA is just for R3.

From what most have reported here, you're better off to use the NT maps and the TA POIs.....although it seems TA maps are better for a couple states - you'd have to search the thread to find which ones
