There is a bug in the NT maps, at least in Canada: everytime the Lane Information comes up during a route, it is prceeded by a short garbled high speed sound, like accelerated speech on a tape. Has anyone elese noted this?
I tried with different voices, both TTS and regular, and it's the same.

If anyone can check this, I will apprciate it. I'm using the v8.3.2.93112 version.

I never noticed this driving in Toronto. But haven't yet tried it with the NT map just released past week. I'm using same version on an Axim X51V. I'll let you know next time I go on the highway.

On my part i like the Teleatlas maps way better than the navteq. I live in Canada Quebec. There is SO Much more POI's....there is missing roads in Navteq that have been built for over 5 yrs that arent in navteq but are in Teleatlas. There are errors in Navteq that Teleatlas dont have. I have a couple of speed limits also but there is still the MPH /KMh bug that makes the limits unusable. Teleatlas FTW....Now if only someone would tell me how to fix the speed limit bugs...

xtyler91 wrote:I am wondering if it is a Navteq problem or not. See if it were a Navteq problem then we would see the same errors on all the Navteq maps, including those for other programs. The problems are specific to the Q4 2008 and Q1 2009 map sets for Igo8 though. So I am wondering if the issue is with Navteq, or with NNG.... who could just be releasing rebadged map sets that are full of issues... that or they could just be old maps with a new date on them. Can't hurt to try. If I find time later today I will see about reporting them to Navteq.

Good point. I have no idea what the contract for updates would be between NNG and Navteq. Could be NNG can get away with charging for upgraded maps while only paying Navteq for a few changes, leaving many other States unchanged. Seems like either greed or incompetence. I haven't compared different copies of the Navteq maps with the same dates. What I did see was two missing roads near me, reported them, and in the next release they were fixed. My thinking is along the squeaky wheel notion.

Google Maps uses teleatlas and Bing uses Navteq.
Can you see those roads that end on Bings maps too?
Surely they have the lastest maps too and not sure if you could say that those maps are the same as the ones release for the sat nav though. Cant see why not.

Interesting.

There's a relatively new roundabout near me that is on both the last 2 Navteq releases, but it's not on Bing. So, there's some disconnect between GPS and online versions.

It is on the TA releases posted here for IGO and on Google.

You can try it on a simulation - the same bug exists there as well. I only have it with the new NT maps.

Preliminary test with the 2009Q2 Tele Atlas maps shows the same error found on the 2008-10 TA maps :

The Garden State Parkway is shown as one huge UNNAMED road !!!

You need to contact NNG and specify the problem to them. Last relase of TA I did it and they sent me a corrected version of the maps. So I presume that if those maps have still the same issue.... would they be fake since it has been corrected?
Could somebody verify is TA Canada maps have new streets that older version didn't have?

This should be an option in your skin setup. What skin do you use?

Tried out the teleatlas ones today - in california. Think ill stick back with navteq.
Teleatlas maps calculate the time for the trip to be far to long initially, then the time quickly drops as you are going. Bad for planning a trip beforehand.
I hate the way teleatlas maps show the signs for every highway exit as you drive along and leave them displayed for so long. The navteq ones shows the right signs when needed and more importantly the one when you have turn off. Teleatlas had some mistakes in it too and didnt have minor lane information that the navteq ones have.

are you comparing the Navteq Q1 2009 to the TA 2009.2 maps?
