Now Kletodatheif, You are a genius, thanks for the BEST TTS with igo8 WOW! its really great, this program even says my name before its says destination is on the right or left! I could not believe it. You said you only tested this on simulation!!! Are you paralysed from your knee down that you cant drive and check it for yourself. You need a reward for putting this little beauty up.

Actually, I am the one who prepared and posted the above package. However, I don't remember having it say your name before announcing that destination is on left or right.

This package uses the high quality TTS engine for IGO8 R3 released by Jetmouse. The voice files were based on ladude's voices way back from igo8 demo. I made some modifications on the lex file and I added the commands on the voice files to announce the side of the street destination.

If you want to change the pronunciation of certain words or phrases, you can do this in the EnglishUs6.9.lex file found on the TTS_LOQ\EnglishUS folder.

Also, these voices speak somewhat fast. For example, the original igo8 r3 Susan voice uses a rate of 35, while this one uses 50. You can slow it down by modifying the speed in the info.ini file in the voice file.

Here are original Igo8 R3 US TTS voices that announces side of the street of destination. Personally, I do not like them for the reason that they do not always say the street name. If the turns are too close (200 yards or less), they do not say the street name anymore, they just say "take the next left (or right)".

Just to report that this TTS works fine without "out of memory" problem on my Prestigio 430 with 64MB of RAM. Voice is ok. I'll report if I encounter any problem on longer route, otherwise I will stay silent. I'm using latest release of IGO8 (8.3.2.80621).

Thanks for the files. I used them, along with R3 TTS pack by JM, with 8.3.2.64873, and all is working well. Pronunciation of words are much better then the Ladude voice. I actually like the R3 TTS pack better. It's not as wordy. Not all street names are announced.

Hi
What are the TTS packages you downloaded ? And can you check and lemme know what's your memory distribution[Means distribution of 64MB in Program and Data]
Plus, can you also paste your sys.txt settings here and the link of the IGo version you downloaded. Thanks in advance :)

At first I downloaded US english TTS from first page of this thread, then I downloaded this pack http://www.mediafire.com/?1xpnngcyqy1 only because it was said that has a features that first one doesn't.

The newer igo8.3 builds(70118,64084,79297,70321) supports that (announcing side of destination) but the corresponding voice should also have the proper code (or is it script) for it. Please use any of the above builds in conjunction with the appropriate voice file.

Here is my US voices TTS pack for iGo8. It has TTS voices Susan and Dave. The TTS engine is from JetMouse iGo 8.3 Release in ppcwarez. so this is the high quality TTS engine. The voice files are based from ladude's TTS voices way back from the igo8 demo days. Using these TTS voices, you would always get the street name announcement no matter what (no more take the next left/right without announcing the street name). Also, with this TTS pack, route always pronounced as route (not RT). This pack works for both Igo8.0 and igo 8.3. Just uncompress into your PC and copy as is into your igo8 root folder (folder where you find ig08.exe). Remember to backup your files first just in case.

Thank a lot for this option. Can it also say the Address of destination as well ?

I hope you will figure it out soon !

@Kamoteka,

What modifications are necessary for the voice files to say the side of the street for the destination? Would you mind letting us know how you modified the voice files so that it announces the side of the street?

The commands are found in the commands.csv file in the zipped voice file. The usual command for destination arrival are contained in the "goal" command. The commands for destination with direction are "goal_left" and "goal_right" (there are also "via_left" and "via_right".

For example, you would see this command on the voice file that has destination directions:
Code: Select all"goal_left","call 24-tts-loq left, left.","8",

24-tts-loq refers to a template which you would see towards the bottom of the commands.csv file:
Code: Select all"template 24-tts-loq",,,"16_Destination situations with direction"
,"100[then]*24-tts-loq-t01","Then, arrive at destination, on the %2","16-8 Then arrive at your destination, on the left/right.""
,"300[then3]","*24-tts-loq-t01","16-8 Then arrive at your destination, on the left/right."
,"1000[more]*24-tts-loq-m00","Drive %dist3","06-4-7 Drive %dist."
,"500[more,set_1]*24-tts-loq-m03","Approaching destination, on the %1 in %dist3","16-1 Prepare to arrive at your destiantion, on the left/right, in %dist.""
,"200[more,set_2]","*24-tts-loq-m03","16-1 Prepare to arrive at your destiantion, on the left/right, in %dist."
,"50[more,near,set_3]*24-tts-loq-m02","Approaching destination, on the %1 in %dist3","16-2 You will arrive at your destination, on the left/right, in %dist.""
,"0[more,near,set_4,set_arrive]*24-tts-loq-m01","Arriving at destination, on the %2","16-3 You have reached your destinaion, on the left/right.""
,"800[equal,minsilence=10,if_not_1]","*24-tts-loq-m03","16-1 Prepare to arrive at your destiantion, on the left/right, in %dist."
,"300[equal,minsilence=10,if_not_2]","*24-tts-loq-m03","16-1 Prepare to arrive at your destiantion, on the left/right, in %dist."
,"100[near,minsilence=7,if_not_3]","*24-tts-loq-m02","16-2 You will arrive at your destination, on the left/right, in %dist."
,"1[near,if_not_4,set_arrive]","*24-tts-loq-m01","16-3 You have reached your destinaion, on the left/right."
,,,

The above are taken from the original Susan voice file that supports destination direction. As you can see, there are a lot of typo errors (e.g. destiantion, destinaion - not sure really if these are typo's but they look like typo's to me).

If your voice file does not support destination direction, just copy the "goal_left", "goal_right", "via_left", and "via_right" commands into the commands.csv file of your voice file. Copy as well the corresponding command templates for the four (4) above new commands and insert them toward the bottom of the commands.csv file after the templates for the regular "goal" commands.
