I know this is going to sound like a dumb question but I am having the hardest time trying to get maps on my Garmin c330. I have 2GB SD card and was able to get the file gmapsupp.img on to the card in the garmin directory. I got the maps on the SD card through MapSource's option of "Send to Device". I've used the v1.3 keygen from this post and made the gmapsupp.unl and sw.unl files and put them in the garmin folder on the SD card too, but when I put the card in the GPS it keeps saying "Can't Unlock Maps". I upgraded to the newest fireware (5.70). I also got City Navigator North America NT 2008 from TPB. I've read the comments and a few different methods to get this working and none have worked so far. I tried using the SD Card ID number (in a hidden menu on the GPS) instead of the Unit ID in the keygen. I've tried changing the unlock code in the gmapsupp.img file with a hex editor. None of it works. I've tried simple and I've tried hard. Anyone have any idea what I'm missing?? Any help would be appreciated!!

Just delete gmapsupp.unl and sw.unl. You don't need them. Once you remove those 2 files it will work.
To be sure : enter in Map Source your created unlock key(based on UNIT-ID!!) then send to device

I did try that too..but that didn't work very either .

One thing I noticed is that download I got from TPB was actually City Navigator North America 2008 (no "NT"). it was ~2.5GB. I also got another download from TPB that was labeled the NT version but was only ~1GB. When I installed the non-NT version it installed MapSource, and I went through all that process using that program...and couldn't get it to work. BTW, it copied the gmapsupp.img to my SD card that was ~1.7GB.

The other version (the smaller one), when I was on TPB, people were saying it was a bad version and advising to download the bigger version. Anyways, I installed that version and it only added a program called MapInstall. During the install, it ran the unlock wizard where I put the unlocks from the KG v1.3, and it looked like it worked fine. It then asked which maps to copy and to what device. I still had the SD card in there with the gmapsupp.img, gmapsupp.unl , & sw.unl files in the GPS. When it finished, EVERYTHING WORKED!!! but I did notice that the gmapsupp.img file was now only ~1.1GB. I was able to confirm that it was the new maps....my house wasn't on the previous maps and it is now .

So, I'm a little confused...
Is it a problem that the gmapsupp.img file is so much smaller?
Am I missing a lot by not having the bigger map file?
What is the difference between the NT version and non-NT version?
Should go back and try the bigger version (~1.7GB) and find the map code for the non-NT version?
(if so, any idea that that is? ... I tried to look it up in the registry and I think it is 246)

After all this work, part of me thinks I should just quit now and be happy with it working (even if it's less than perfect), but if I'm really close to getting it fully working I should probably go that extra step and get the full benefit of the 2008 updates.
