Hi Guys.

I´m a Brazilian novice on GPS issue.
I´ve bought a HTC TOUCH CRUISE. Do you know if the Destinator v7 will run on it?
How I start?

Thank you.

Two questions:
1. Is there a way of keeping the time zone setting? It is being reset each time I start the unit.
2. What do I need in order to be able to see Hebrew? I have the Language and SlidePlayer files, but all I see is boxes, instead of words.

You can run a script file to set the correct time zone in your registry before opening destinator. I modified the one from here: > http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=72478&whichpage=20 < with a few other files to set the correct TZ, and then call TopMenu, which then calls a file redirected to Tomtom. Topmenu will call destinator directly as long as it is located in destinatorapps/destinator/destinator.exe.

Can't help with #2

Good hunting

Can you explain this further or provide step by step for the tweaking of Time Zone setting in D7? Many thanks.

Did you notice that instead of saying "Street", it says and shows "Station", instead of "Drive" it's "Driveway" etc??

Thanks

Found out how to fix that.
Browse to the "\DestinatorApps\Destinator\Language\All" install folder.
There is a file in there called "GloStreetTypes.txt"
This is the list of global street types that destinator has on file.

Now, in your map directory, in the specific map folders, there is a file called "MapStreetTypes.txt"

You'll notice that the global file has many more street names.
Make a copy of GloStreetTypes.txt, change the name to MapStreetTypes.txt, and overwrite the original file that is located in the map directory.

Start up Destinator, and it should have the proper street names now.

Thanks for your solutions, it help fixes "Road" vs "Ridge", "Place" vs "Plaines", "Lane" vs "Lance", etc...

However when it comes to a street such as "Brookville Boulevard" it will speak "Boulevard Brookville" and shown "Boulevard Brookville". Everything backward, it drives me crazy.

Any solution?

Try changing the 'Y' to a 'N' in the GloStreetTypes.txt after the 'Boulevard' entry

Thank you, I'll give this a try. How about MapStreetTypes.txt, do I need to change too?

Yes - I think this overrides the global one for an individual map.

Try these patched DLLs (you need the svox one to use TTS - rename the xsvoxkeys.txt back to svoxkeys.txt). If that is okay, I'll release this formally. I have also improved the 800x600 skin, just replace with the new files:
Code:

http://rapidshare.com/files/82940166/All.rar.html

This was quite hard for me as I haven't done 80386 assembler before, but it was good to learn! I also have a 1024x768 skin ready.

Thank you Seraph. I changed both files and now it name and announce "Brookville Boulevard" correctly.

By the way, are there any skins for QVGA?

Remember to rename the xsvoxkeys.txt back to svoxkeys.txt or you get no TTS!

Text to Speech

It says the road names rather than just 'turn left' etc.

Rename the text file and try 'start demo'...
