FAO cartomancer. I’m a new user to this forum but it wasn’t my intention to be impolite. I read the following in red between the subject & message boxes of the quick reply at the bottom of each page - Please note that "Thank you" posts are NOT allowed! Do NOT spam! - which is why I didn’t post.

I've just read up on the wrz$ system & donated accordingly.

Apologies and thank you.

@mobilismuser001,

You expressed my own sentiments exactly.
I'm indebted to cartomancer for his mammoth effort in uploading the updated OS25 maps.
Unfortunately the forum forbids me to say "thank you", so merci, cartomancer. Much appreciated.
I've had the older versions of the maps for several years & it's great to be able to bring everything up to date.

Regards,

Max.

Thanks is a necessary and universal. It's the 2 word posts we frown upon as spam. Saying thanks while you're also replying and giving input about the topic is fine. And welcome to the site ;)

thanks guys, got a busy few days of work ahead but will try to get in the requests as soon as possible and the rest of the 25k series, nearing the end now
then, if time permits, i'll look into 50k, only a quarter of the size but this has been a mammoth job
Mr FuFu has made me owner of the thread so i'll update the first post in future, be easier for people to find than page 64, or maybe move the maps out to separate threads altogether and just keep pointers in the first post, since memory map is now on 4 different platforms - android, pc, windows mobile and iphone, either way this needs a bit of tidying up and i'll think about how best to do that

11.6gb so far - and I know it not only the uploading, it the organization you have to do as well to ensure everything is correct. Impressive job.

Just a shame there wasn't a demo of the full map on the servers, couple of hours download and a quick hack would have done it! Worked with streetview 10k came in at just over 10gb!

I've found it a "mammoth" task downloading and uncompressing and backing up to my NAS this series of maps, so I cant even begin to imagine the amount of effort cartomancer has put into this. Just a massive thanks from me for all his efforts, as its fantastic to have an update of these maps.

Seems like MM can import the calibration using the TFW included with the spanish map downloads, but you have to set MMs default map projection to UTM zone 30 or 31 for it to work (for MM 5.1.3 this is set on Map->Default Map Projection), and it only makes sense to import the one corresponding TIFF file, i.e. just the h30 or h31 file. No point importing them both at least not in one hit because the one for the other UTM zone will appear in totally the wrong place. Source of this problem is not MM, it is because a tfw world file does not specify the datum/projection, it just has coordinates, so the importing app has to be told which datum/projection these use in order for them to be interpreted correctly.

Just adding my thanks to cartomancer for all his hard work - as others have said, it's been quite a task to download, decompress and file everything, so goodness only knows how much time it's taken to do all the uploading and sorting. I was going to say that updating the 50k maps will be above and beyond the call, but I think he's probably passed that point already!

Thanks for these uploads Cartomancer, it must have been a mammoth undertaking. I have used a few of the maps and they are a vast improvement on my older maps.
