No, files are not missing; unfortunately, as here in Canada, the maps don't appear to have 3D info on them. Maybe they will in the next release. To have a look at 3D info, download the USA maps and simulate a trip.

I've tested the 5.0 version of Polnav and it is by far the quickest loading and most responsive gps software and least resource demanding. The biggest issue I have with this software is that it lacks POI search. Does version 5.5 or 5.8 have searchable POI? If so, then I'm going to use this as my primary gps software instead of IGO or Garmin.

I use the 5.8 version and I am very fond of POLNAV. As regards POI I have not tried the 5.0ver, but 5.8 does have POI search. In addition 5.8 also has filter for Favourites which was not there before 5.8. Before 5.8ver, if one had to search for any particular saved Favourite, one had to scroll down the complete list. With filter option, just type in 2/3 alplabets and the search narrows down drastically.

Is there any utility that can convert waypoints (KML, GPX, RTE or any other GPS format) to Polnav's favorite?

Apparently, there is...BUT, it's only made available to commercial users - this according to PolStar themselves.

From the initial screen, touch the second button from the bottom left (Settings)
Touch the top left button (General)
Touch the bottom left button (Language)
Touch the top left or right arrow until the display says "English" (Text)
Touch the bottom left button (Apply)
At this point, the display should be in English.
Input Method should be set to General.

AND, we can expect TTS with the next release also. Let's hope it's better than the TTS package for version 5.8 - pretty bad.

Thanks! Now I have another problem. I copied all the maps from the 5.0 version over to the 5.8. All of the maps show up as being unregistered. I downloaded the navigator.exe but still the maps don't work. Also I downloaded the version 4 keygen from the previous page but don't know how to use it. It says not a valid win32 application.

Download the file at Post #284, extract the file to your SDMMC\PolNav directory. Re-name a map (any map) to star.map and run the program just extracted. You'll get a message that there are unregistered map(s) - from the main screen, select Info\Map and select the map shown, then touch Register and enter any digits you wish. The map will be registered. Run the 5.8 version and the map will be available. You can re-name the star.map to it's correct name at that point. Follow this procedure to register all your maps. If you're getting a "not a valid win32 application", reset your GPS unit and you should be good to go.

mylnyn, Thanks again it works! Previously it didn't work because I placed the keygen in the map folder.

Unfortunately, the POI search function is still lacking compared with IGO and other gps software. You can not search poi around gps location. Oh well, hopefully version 6.0 will improve that.
