Can we have here a topic where we discuss our experiences with a particular software. I would guess that the Software Releases is the forum that is most frequently visited. I tried finding some info in he other forums, but I realized that hardly anyone ever bothers to visit them.
I wanted to share with you some experience I had with TomTom 6.200 (the Taiwanese version) and a map of NY_VT_NH_ME_RI_CT_MA_NJ.v665.1294.
GPS location: Boston, MA, near Mass General Hospital.
Target location: Harvard St., Allston.
Instead of taking me to Storrow Drive, TT took me across the Andersen bridge to Cambridge and then to Memorial Drive and so on. An absolutely stupid routing.
I can qoute similar stupid U-turns, etc. If you don't listen to TT and go a short distance your way, TT finds the correct route.
This was just an illustration of the faulty routing in TomTom. I am sure that other readers have been mis-routed too.
Do we blame the particular version of TT for the screwy routing, or the map is to be blamed? What I mean is, if I use TomTom 6.030 with the same map would the routing improve?
Of course, I can replace TT 6.200 with TT 6.030 and find the answer but I thought that the topic would be interesting to others: the version or the map?
