If it does not belong anywhere else and has to do with Pocket PCs post it here.

I have a 4gig for a PSP and it takes quite a bit longer to transfer files etc, but as far as running programes, once they are running I notice no difference. I imagine it will be the same with PPC.

Most devices don't support 4Gb only max 2Gb

rangkykoo, whats your PPC? So, you mean it doesn't matter for use in PPC?
And doesn't make your PPC slower? Can used normally like 1Gb / 2Gb? My PPC is 195 MHz

My 2 cents-worth is that my 4Gb card slowed down the PPC whenever icons were accessed for progs on the card (like from the Start menu or within the programs folder), the old 512Mb card with the same apps had the PPC react faster (despite having similar access-times and throughput when checked). I now use WM6 which does not seem to suffer to same affliction. I guess it's a icon caching issue but I tried all manner of tweaks to remove the problem in WM5 - all to no avail.

I thinks so, because first I used a normal 1 GB and I had no problems. With the 2 GB my acer is slower than with the 1 GB. I have used always SD by sandisk. :?

Not sure, but I think all cards above 2GB are SDHC type and device support for it would be the first thing to check on my list before ordering 4gigs. ;)

Hi Guys,

I have installed a TakeMS 4GB Sd Card 133x (and with a very low price when compared with other suppliers ;) ) in a Universal, and haven't noticed any significant loss of speed compared with 1GB UltraII that I've had before.
By the way, I've 2.8GB in use for that card with movies and applications and everything loads fast

Hope this helps :)

Cheers

4gb does make yer ppc run alot slower and will even pretty much lock yer device up till you take it out, but if you partition the card into 4 (1g) it will run as if you have 4 cards on your phone. I had the same problem and was a easy fix once partitioned. You will need to use Linux to do this. Just grab a live cd from the live cd link and its like 1 2 3 done.

I like knoppix or Overclockix but it is really up to you to pick. http://www.livecdlist.com/

download ,burn cd, boot from disk, run Qparted divide stick up into 4 parts put the sick in your phone and yer off and ready to go
Good luck, hope this helps

Remember to get a 4GB SD-card, NOT a SD-HC-card (Secure Digital High Capacity)!!!

I have not noticed a difference (in accessing/reading/writing) between my .5Gig ultra II vs my 2GB ultra II.
this is interesting...wonder why the differences in devices?

Good point "Misterhamper". Maybe the most pertinent observation.
Remember guys ... SDHC will not work on most pda's. For me, Transcend SD 4GB 150x, work very fast.
As a general sugestion, when I was having a 2 GB SD card, I formated it with fat 16 and 32 kb cluster. Very good speed, as opposite to fat32. But with 4GB, I can't do that. But I'm not complain... very good speed.... more quicker than internal memmory.
