If it does not belong anywhere else and has to do with Pocket PCs post it here.

Goodday all,

I'm looking for a bitta TomTom related advice. I'm currently using the latest TomTom 6 with Western_Europe map but wish to change to the (much smaller) United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland map and add maps whenever I travel abroad to save space on my SD card.

Is it possible to import my favourites from western_europe to United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland? (they are all UK favs). I see that TomTom have released new maps too, so will it be possible to upgrade those and keep my favs aswell?

Cheers !

Hi

Yes it is possible to copy the favourites and home location from one map to another quite easily.

Inside the Western_Europe folder there should be a file called MapSettings.cfg - you just need to copy this into the united_kingdom_and_republic_of_ireland folder (keep a back up of the one in there just in case).

One thing I have noticed with the v6 ppc copies of TomTom is they sometimes freeze on startup when you have a lot of favourites - not sure exactly how many - but I've had to delete MapSettings.cfg a couple of times to get past it (I used poiedit to then export my favourites to a POI file and just added the important ones as favourites again).

Has anyone else found this or a way around it?

Cheers mate.. I'm going to mess with the favs today so I'll let you know if I have the same problem and find a solution.

Also gonna do quite a bit of driving today so I can test out the new maps!

Thnx.
