If it does not belong anywhere else and has to do with Pocket PCs post it here.

I'm having trouble connecting to ActiveSync. It all started yesterday, I had just formated my memorycard and was installing some software on my HTC which wen't fine (I was connected to ActiveSync and all) then by itself i wasn't connected to it anymore and haven't been able to connect ever since.

I tried to readd my cellphone after deleting it from AS. I've pulled out the USB cable in and out a thousand times nothing, I tried the ActiveSync connection settings (connect, it searches for COM ports etc, finds COM 1 and 3 and USB available) which all don't work, it says they're connected/installed I click on one of them and next but it doesn't go next, it keeps re-searching for which COM/ports are installed/available again... so i can't get pass this point to add my cellphone to "My Device" and see if it'll connect.

This is so frustraing, how can I connect my HTC to ActiveSync again?

Thanks ina dvance,

I assume you have already tried a soft reset.

Some ideas you can try:
- reinstall AS 4.5 in your PC.
- check that the AS process is running on your HTC. If you try to launch it, can you see it in the running processes list or does it end abruptly?
- check the AS settings in your HTC. You should have a setting for running AS automatically when the cable is connected.

If everything fails, perhaps some driver has been overwritten. If you have a recent backup, the fastest way would probably be a hard reset.

If you are using v4.5 try downgrading to v4.2

Yeah, soft-reset didn't work, I also did a hard reset before formating my memorycard.

- I reinstalled, same thing.
- It's running, doesn't abrupt or anything.
- It's checked and should start activating as soon as my HTC is connected, it doesn't :(

I think it might have something to do with me removing my device from the AS list. It disconnected me a few times yesterday so I thought I'd remove it "Mobile Units" or whatever it's called which lists the device you've got installed to AS because I thought I'd re-add it to the list which I can't seem to do (with the COM/USB port list, it says they're there and installed but don't let me continue > next to add my device).

Imma try installing 4.2 see if it work!

4.2 doesn't work as well, it's like it doesn't want to connect to my device, like it's not connected with the USB-cable. I'm thinking it has to do with my HTC settings.

Which settings should I be looking for? I have 9options (with options within them as well) all for connections (usb, xds, gprs, wi-fi, wireless etc). The USB-Computer connecting setting only has one checkbox and it's for automatic connection which is checked, so can't really do anything more there, but it might be some of the other connecting settings maybe?

The only thing the USB-cable does at the moment when my HTC is connected to my computer is charge it, no connecting to internet, to AS nothing!
