Quick Tip #1 : Faster Internet Browsing - Otherwise known as "Set Your Own Static DNS!"

**These instructions were created by me going through my 8525. I am not sure if they will be the same with other phones or if they will even work. Please continue with caution.**

1. Go to Start, Settings, Connections Tab
2. Click the Connections icon
3. Click Advanced then Select Networks
4. Make sure Media Net is chosen and click Edit
5. Click Edit again
6. Click Next, Next, and then Advanced
7. Click the Servers tab
8. Select the "Use specific server address" and enter the following DNS servers (or your own if you prefer):

4.2.2.1 - (I had best results with this as #1)
199.166.31.3 (this is a Florida DNS server - more are at http://www.dslreports.com/faq/7472)

9. Click OK at top right and then click Finish. Confirm the save.

Media Net should then reconnect and you will be using your own DNS servers. I have found that when I use my own, I get to web pages much faster than using Media Net's. No more sitting at "Locating" for more than 1-1.5 seconds.

Enjoy!

With wifi you should already have a good local DNS server. I guess you could try those servers and see if it is any faster.
To change the wifi dns - instead of going to Connections icon, click Wi-Fi, then Network Adapters. Make sure your "IEE 802.11b/g" device is selected and click the Edit button at the bottom left. Click the Name Servers tab and enter your DNS servers... Though, again, I'm really not sure how much this will help for wifi.
